The global fleet consists of 795 LNG tankers and 2,082 LPG tankers. These tankers play specialized roles in moving natural gas in its various forms across the world. LNG tankers move cleaner-burning fuel from production points to markets where natural gas pipelines are not feasible or available. LPG tankers carry liquefied petroleum gas, a mixture of propane and butane, which serves a variety of uses from residential heating and cooking to fueling vehicles and industrial processes. The existence of these two fleets underscores the broader importance of natural gas as a cornerstone of the global energy system, contributing to energy security, environmental sustainability, and economic development worldwide. #Canada is playing catchup in the global #LNG market. With our country's first export shipment, from LNG Canada Phase 1, planned for ~Q3 of this year. We "missed the boat" (pun intended), on early #lngindustry adoption and leadership. This was NOT for a lack of innovation, engineering know-how, skilled workforce, and certainly not for a lack of #naturalgas feedstock reserves. But mostly in part from a lack of political support... I will leave it there! Momentum has returned and continues to build, with a flurry of new LNG and #FLNG projects, under development, on Canada's #westcoast. This includes LNG Canada Phase 2, Cedar LNG, Woodfibre LNG, Ksi Lisims LNG, and Tilbury LNG Phase 2. These projects provide Canada an opportunity for several and significant benefits, of which, include #globalenergy #emissionsreduction. Liquefied #ammonia offers Canada a second chance to not only participate in a #newenergy ecosystem but to be true LEADERS in the #energytransformation. On the #eastcoast of Canada, we have the immense potential for #energyinnovation, with multiple #greenammonia export facilities under development. Following a similar approach to our LNG projects of local community engagement, #sustainabledevelopment, and #Indigenous involvement and partnerships. The front-runner in this field, is EverWind Fuels' Point Tupper Green Ammonia project, in #NovaScotia. An opportunity, once again, for Canada to "punch-above-our-weight-class" in terms of contributing to global emission reductions, with supply of this #cleanenergytransition fuel source.
