Hello Dear Colleagues. I am interested in process of checking blueprints in your company(country). In a company where I currently work I have at least 3 people who check blueprints of designers: -👷♂️ Another designer with higher or equivalent experience - 👩🔧 Process engineer - 🕵️♂️ Norm inspector (a person who checks the relevance of the standards that are referenced in the drawing, as well as the graphics for drawing dimensions, line thickness, and so on). This stage is the most annoying for all design engineers, because norm inspector usually finds a lot of points or lines that should not be on the drawing😭😭😭 - 👸 Senior designer. Does Draftsman get the recognition they deserve in the Engineering industry? Whenever you read any article or attend any award ceremony, it’s all about the Engineers and Architects. Yet without the draftsman who collates all the information from all parties (Engineers, Architects, Clients, Contractors, and Sub-contractors) to develop and produce 3D/2D models and drawings, throughout the whole process of design, build, operation and maintain, often under extreme pressures to meet strict deadlines. Without the skills and knowledge of draftsmen (i.e. Designs, Shop drawings, detailing) the industry couldn’t function. After all most engineering companies have at least one draftsman I think the Engineering industry as a whole needs to improve and recognize the input and importance of all technicians. What are your thoughts??
