A potential step in the right direction...

UPDATE: Yet another step closer. As far as I understand (don't know about China), the information gather is shared between research institutions. Therefore: this isn't going to be a race to one world monopoly on Fusion, but rather freedom from energy dependence on other nations. Historically wars have been fought around resources, (using religion and other manipulations as tools, please don't quote me on this I may be wrong). What is the most valuable resource right now? Energy. I believe allowing every nation to be energy independent will be the next giant leap towards shedding our fur and climbing down from the branches of the metaphorical jungle we've been living in. Not to say this will solve all problem and create heaven on earth... but it's a step in the right direction. (Originally, I wrote, "It's a start", but realize how enormous of a lie that we be. Human lives are short compared to epochs, and though it may not seem like it; Humanity has been through much much worse. We have began making moves in the right direction for a long time (since when? I don't know.) We don't always do; and even when our intentions are good the outcomes are nothing like we invision (The road to hell is paved with good intentions? If really so, hell must be a hard place to get into with the constant construction just to keep traffic flowing). Call me a cautious optimist, but I believe we're going to make it. (To where? That's beyond this already overgrown snippet of information that it intended** to be) **intended... guess I should start getting prepared for being stuck in constant traffic. Happy slightly belated New Year Everybody!

No engineered system will always be in steady state, and engineers need to know the dynamic response. For my thesis at UC Berkeley, I modeled the boiler feedwater system of a Boiling Water Reactor used at GE Nuclear, using a hybrid (Digital/Analog) computer. Analog amplifiers on a board were used to model the nuclear reactor system. The response (pressure, temperature, flow) of the system to various failures of the sensing and control system were run.
