At the end of April, the New Trends in Civil Aviation 2024 (NTCA) conference was held in Prague ✈️. This was already the 24th year of a series of conferences organised by the Department of Air Transport of Fakulta dopravní ČVUT v Praze 🎓.   The objective of these conferences is to provide a platform where members of communities interested in air transport operations and applications are able to interact. The conferences are designed for both specialists from practice and academics and serve as a forum for exchange of opinions and experience regarding technology, methodology, applications, and case studies as well as real cases in both civil and military aviation. NTCA originally used to focus on the Central European region, especially the Czech Republic and Slovakia, only but has gradually attracted the attention of other countries around the world.   Czech Airlines Technics was the silver partner of the conference with Aneta Komárková, Ondřej Trčka, Hubert Pikl, and Lubos Pirek present on behalf of the company. #CSAT #pragueairport #aircraftmaintenance #maintenance #aviation

The creation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) 🌐 in January 1945 played a pivotal role in shaping international air transport. The war accelerated technological advancements, and experienced military pilots transitioned to commercial airlines, contributing to the professionalisation of the industry ✈. A significant milestone came in October 1958 with the introduction of the Boeing 707 🛫 – the first commercial jet airliner, which transformed civil aviation. The Boeing 707 offered faster speeds, longer range, and greater passenger capacity than earlier piston-engine aircraft. ✈ The first commercial passenger flight took place on 1st January 1914 between St. Petersburg and Tampa in Florida. The aircraft, a Benoist XIV piloted by Tony Jannus, carried a single passenger – Abram C. Pheil, the mayor of St. Petersburg. The flight lasted 23 minutes, covering 34 kilometres across Tampa Bay. 💸 The ticket for this flight was auctioned for $400, equivalent to over $10,000 today! This flight was groundbreaking, as it was organised by the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line, the first regularly scheduled airline offering public transport. Up until then, aircraft flights were predominantly military, experimental, or private endeavours. 🚀 Since then, commercial aviation has continued to evolve, connecting people across the globe. Airbus Beluga Transport (AIBT) has been granted permission to conduct flights between Europe and the US. The carrier gained its AOC in November last year and has already conducted flights in the European Union (EU) using its fleet of BelugaST freighters. It applied for a Foreign Air Carrier permit from the US Department of Transportation in December and was granted permission to conduct flights on January 10. AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE a.s. recently handed over the first six L-39NG jets to its first customer, the Vietnamese Air Force. This month it also announced the first aircraft was also set to be delivered to LOM PRAHA, a domestic company that trains pilots for the Czech Air Force. But now Aero is now focusing on the African continent, and is exhibiting the L-39NG at the newly inaugurated Egypt International Airshow. Viktor Sotona, chairman and president of Aero Vodochody Aerospace said: “We are returning to the African continent, where Aero has a great tradition, because we believe the L-39NG has huge potential here.
