🎊🚲 Our León bike share scheme is growing! As of last week, 40 new bicycles across 9 stations are complementing the public bike share scheme Alsa-nextbike León. With this expansion, the scheme consists of 340 bikes in total that can be rented and returned across the whole city. And as if this wasn't enough already, more than 80 brand new e-bikes will be joining the fleet in the coming month. This bike share scheme, implemented and operated on behalf of the public transport provider Alsa, has been providing a sustainable shared mobility option since 2022. With the expansion of the scheme and the addition of electric bicycles, we are sure that we will reach even more people in the future and will make public transport in León even more accessible and flexible. #BikeSharing #PublicTransport #Bikesharevolution #SustainableMobility

See how Beam Mobility's new Apollo Lite shared e-bike has brought a 50% increase in ridership in Wellington, New Zealand. The new e-bike is significantly smaller and lighter than the shared e-bikes currently available in the region, weighing less than 30kg. A survey Beam ran on the perceptions of the Apollo Lite found that 50% of riders are over the age of 35 and 38% identify as female. In a Zag interview, Beam’s General Manager Tom Cooper, said: “Lots of firms have been iterating the e-scooters but the shared e-bike size has stayed the same in Australia and New Zealand for the past 10 years. Yamaha Italy has recently partnered with Altea Federation, a digital transformation company, and Etraction Ebike, its eBike service centre, to launch the "eRide The Future" project in Italy, promoting sustainable mobility for businesses. Originally an eBike rental service by Lake Orta, Etraction Ebike now focuses on low-impact mobility by designing and building eBike charging stations. Recognizing that road transport contributes 12% of global emissions, this alliance offers companies eco-friendly commuting solutions for employees. Yamaha provides the eBikes, Etraction delivers them with charging stations, and Altea raises awareness and encourages businesses to adopt the solution, helping them meet sustainability goals. Andrea Colombi, Yamaha Italy’s Country Manager, emphasized that this initiative supports their mission to create societal value. Participating companies will enable employees to choose greener, healthier commutes, contributing to reduced emissions and better air quality. Tender win alert 🎉: We are very happy to announce that nextbike will become available in yet another market this year! 🚲 With the public scheme in Barcelos, Portugal, our bikes will become available at the beautiful Portuguese coast. nextbike will provide the hardware for the city’s so-called “tuba bike” amounting to 200 modern push bikes. The bikes will be provided on behalf of the local public transport provider “transdev” and are planned to hit the streets this summer. Initially distributed across around 50 virtual stations, the system can be easily adapted to the needs of users and expanded accordingly. In addition, “tuba bike” will be integrated into the local public transport fare system, making it easily accessible to the public. A well-thought-out system that will enrich the city's sustainable mobility offering and thus contribute to the transport revolution in Barcelos. I'm currently in Japan at the final stages of my preparation for the World Championships and we've realised that my coach is keeping up with me on a Panasonic E-Bike! As a Panasonic Industry Europe sustainability ambassador, I had to look into it, because them manufacturing bikes was news to me! Did you know that Panasonic has been in the electrification game since 1952, and they were already ahead of the curve with their first e-bike launch way back in 1980?! (This one probably dates back to then 😂). 🚴♀️ Now, this was not yet an e-bike as we know it today. Nevertheless, it was the start and they're now one of the leaders in the modern e-bike market. In fact, they've sold over 6 million e-bike drives worldwide, and they're continuing to innovate and shape the future of green mobility. 🌍 E-bikes are a great way to reduce our carbon footprint, and Panasonic is leading the charge in the movement towards a more sustainable future.
