Singapore has signed Air Services Agreements (ASAs) with five countries at the International Civil Aviation Organization Air Services Negotiation Event last week. 🇨🇺: A new ASA with Cuba allows airlines of both countries to operate air services without restrictions on capacity, frequency, and routing. 🇰🇿: An upgraded ASA with Kazakhstan to allow airlines of both countries fly passengers and cargo to other destinations beyond our two countries, including stopover points along the way, without restrictions on capacity, frequency and routing 🇩🇴 🇸🇨 🇨🇭: Updated ASAs with Dominican Republic, Seychelles and Switzerland. This includes removing outdated regulations and allowing airlines to engage in intermodal code-sharing arrangements with land transport providers such as rail operators. The signing of these ASAs demonstrates Singapore’s continued commitment to enhance aviation partnerships with like-minded countries to strengthen our air hub connectivity.

Code sharing agreements between small and large airlines can be highly beneficial for both parties. Here's why code share is the best way to boost connectivity with small airlines and some tips on how to increase profitability through such agreements: 1. **Boost Connectivity**: Code sharing allows small airlines to expand their reach by partnering with larger airlines who have extensive route networks. This enables passengers to book through tickets that involve flights operated by both airlines, providing more options and flexibility in travel routes. This boosts connectivity and allows passengers to access more destinations conveniently. 2. **Cost-Effective Expansion**: For small airlines, code sharing eliminates the need to invest in new routes and aircraft to expand their network. By partnering with larger airlines, they can offer more destinations to their passengers without incurring the high costs associated with opening new routes. This can help small airlines increase their market presence and competitiveness in the industry. 3. **Increased Revenue**: Code sharing agreements can positively impact profitability for both airlines. By attracting more passengers through increased connectivity, airlines can fill up more seats on their flights, leading to higher revenue. Additionally, code sharing allows airlines to share costs and risks associated with operating certain routes, leading to cost savings and improved profitability. 4. **Enhanced Customer Experience**: Code sharing can provide a seamless travel experience for passengers, with coordinated schedules, baggage handling, and check-in procedures. This can enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty, leading to repeat business and positive word-of-mouth referrals. To ensure the success and profitability of code sharing agreements, airlines can consider the following strategies: 1. **Strategic Partnerships**: Choose code share partners wisely to complement each other's route networks and target markets. Aligning with airlines that have a similar customer base and service standards can enhance the overall passenger experience and increase the likelihood of success. 2. **Effective Marketing**: Promote code share routes and connectivity through targeted marketing campaigns to increase awareness among travelers. Highlight the benefits of the partnership, such as expanded destination options, seamless connections, and loyalty program integration. 3. **Revenue Management**: Implement effective revenue management strategies to optimize pricing and seat inventory on code share routes. Analyze demand patterns, adjust pricing strategies, and allocate capacity efficiently to maximize revenue and profitability. By leveraging code sharing agreements effectively, airlines can enhance connectivity, increase revenue, and improve profitability, ultimately benefiting passengers and the aviation industry as a whole.
Air France and Afrijet Business Service have signed a commercial cooperation agreement allowing the combination of flights operated by both airlines on a single Air France ticket. Through the agreement, scheduled to be implemented by the end of March 2024, the two companies aim to develop air traffic to/from Libreville airport, which is expected to become a hub for connections in Central Africa. The objective is to boost Gabon’s regional and international connectivity and improve the customer experience of both airlines. Zoran Jelkic, general manager of Long Courrier Air France - KLM, said: "This represents a significant regional agreement for Air France. It will allow us to connect new Gabonese and regional destinations not currently served by Air France, such as Port-Gentil, Franceville, Bata or Sao Tomé, to our global network, while also strengthening our offer in regional destinations where we already operate. Furthermore, this agreement will provide our customers a better travel experience by allowing them to check their luggage from the departure point to the final destination, and enjoy an easier and faster transit at Libreville airport". Marc Gaffajoli, managing director of Afrijet Business Service, added: "We firmly believe in partnerships for the development of interconnection in Africa, and are delighted to see this agreement materialize in line with this approach. This long-awaited agreement with Air France will enable us to enhance a regional network that will soon cover the entire Gulf of Guinea. Most importantly, it presents an opportunity to provide our mutual customers with end-to-end service, meeting lATA safety standards, and offering a flight program aligned with their continental and regional mobility needs.” https://lnkd.in/d8v2xVA5 #airtransport #airlinesandairplanes #newagreement #aviationindustry

Thanks to Barathan Pasupathi for sharing the Jazeera Airways Central Asia/Caucasus story at the ato comm summit in Tashkent last week. Jazeera's first market in Central Asia was Osh, which it launched in November 2019. As I remarked during the interview session, Osh in Kyrgyzstan is one of the world's most under-served markets with Kuwait and Istanbul the only regularly served international routes outside Russia. Jazeera has since launched services to several other similarly underserved Central Asian markets such as Bishkek, Dushanbe, Namangan, Samarkand and Turkistan. It also serves the main Central Asian cities of Almaty and Tbilisi. In the Caucasus Jazeera serves Baku, Batumi and Tbilisi. Baku and Tbilisi were launched in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Batumi in Georgia is the most recent new destination and was launched in June 2024. It's really an incredible Central Asia/Caucasus network and story for an airline with only 24 aircraft.
Jazeera Airways CEO, Barathan Pasupathi (Bara), recently took the stage at the Central Asia Aviation Summit, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan engaging in a keynote interview with well-known aviation analyst and consultant Brendan Sobie. During the session, Bara spoke about how Jazeera started with just one market in 2019 and now flies to 10 countries across all Central Asia and CIS with plans for further expansion in the Middle East and Central Asia/Caucasus. He also covered a range of crucial topics including navigating geopolitical and economic challenges, fleet growth, diversifying travel segments and the role of technology in driving long-term success. In the interview, Bara acknowledged the liberalization of the aviation policy and infrastructure investments in airport capacity in Central Asia. He also emphasized that safety should always be a number one priority and the need to keep unit cost low for aviation, especially for low fare airlines to grow traffic. #JazeeraAirways #FlyMore #CentralAsiaAviationSummit

In response to the growing demand for international air travel and the competitive landscape posed by foreign carriers, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national flag carrier, has unveiled an ambitious ten-year strategy. The plan involves acquiring a minimum of 26 new aircraft and expanding its route network. Under this vision, Biman’s existing fleet of 21 aircraft will soar to 47 by 2034, marking an impressive 122% growth. The additions will include a mix of aircraft, ranging from those with 300 seats to smaller ones with 70 seats, effectively doubling the airline’s current seating capacity. Aligned with the government’s vision of positioning Bangladesh as an aviation hub, Biman aims to extend its reach to new destinations, including Australia and New York. The move underscores the carrier’s commitment to remaining competitive in an ever-evolving aviation market.

A Singular Transatlantic Service: Why Does Air Algerie Fly From Algiers To Montreal? Montreal's Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is one of the nation's largest global travel hubs and offers service to over 40 long-haul destinations across five continents. While the majority of these destinations are served by flag carrier Air Canada, there is one airline that stands out among the expected legacy carriers that serve the facility. Air Algerie, the flag carrier of the African nation Algeria, operates just a singular transatlantic connection, one that has raised quite a few eyebrows among route analysts and industry insiders alike. Namely, the carrier operates an Airbus A330 service between its primary operating hub at Houari Boumediene International Airport (ALG) in Algiers and Montreal. 🛫 Uzbekistan's Aviation Expansion: A New Era Takes Flight! 🚀✈️ Since 2020, a notable influx of carriers has emerged, including Air Samarkand, Centrum Air, HumoAir, Panorama Airways, Qanot Sharq Airways, Silkavia, Tashkent Air, and Uzbekistan Express (a subsidiary of flag carrier Uzbekistan Airways). This marks a significant departure from the past when Uzbekistan Airways dominated the market. Contrary to expectations of primarily domestic operations, these airlines are predominantly focusing on international routes to the Middle East, and Southeast Asia from various Uzbek cities, rather than relying on a central hub. This shift reflects the evolving dynamics of the industry and underscores Uzbekistan's growing prominence in global connectivity. The emergence of these airlines aligns with Uzbekistan's well-established high-speed rail network, offering travelers diverse transportation options and enhancing accessibility to international destinations. #UzbekistanAviation #GlobalConnectivity #NewAirlines #CentralAsia #Uzbekistan

The upcoming Airports Council International - Latin America and Caribbean - ACI LAC Airport Day in Peru comes at a crucial time as International Air Transport Association (IATA) and airlines urge LIMA AIRPORT PARTNERS and Fraport AG to open LIM's new passenger terminal when it is fully functional, tested and ready to provide an excellent service to airlines and their passengers. Just as critical are the access roads and bridges that connect the city to airport that still need to be constructed. Unless all parties (Federal & Municipal government, airlines & industry) are fully aligned, it’s not reasonable to push for an opening date of December 18, 2024, possibly affecting airline operations during the start of the busy holiday season, when you have until the end of January 2025 to ensure a smooth transition to the new terminal. With the anticipated growth in passengers, it's imperative that LAP works with airlines on the final requirements, and it is equally important, that LAP works with the government authorities to ensure that the infrastructure to and from the city is also in place for maximum efficiency and a pleasant overall passenger experience. Our expectations are high, and we look forward to discussing this tomorrow. Martín La Rosa

Kenya Association of Air Operators Rejects the Concession of JKIA to Adani Airport Holdings as Currently Conceived. The Board in its deliberations confirmed that it does not support the concession of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as currently conceived, noting further that the stakes are too high for a one-bidder process for such an important strategic asset, and that the credibility of the potential partner is also in question. It noted that the best approach in this complex eco-system would be for a competitive and transparent bidding process with all the steps envisaged in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Act correctly followed. The Board further opined that a clear vision of the end game for Kenya needed to be articulated, starting with adherence to the principles laid out in the National Aviation Policy and a well-developed JKIA masterplan which should form the business case for a concession process. https://lnkd.in/d4QPaRwy #airports #Kenya Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO)

Record passenger traffic for Baku Airport in August 🇦🇿 August 2024 became the busiest month in the history of Baku's Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD). Passenger traffic exceeded 827,000 (23% year-on-year growth) in the last month of summer. On average, about 26,700 passengers were served daily in August. Proving its role as one of the major hubs in the Caspian/Caucasus/Central Asia region, the airport of the capital of Azerbaijan, has maintained a trend of significant traffic growth for 8 months of this year. More than 5.038 million passengers were served between January and August, a robust 33.2% increase over the same period in 2023. This growth was the result of “expanding the airport's infrastructure and offering passengers more flights and destinations”, the airport noted. Subscribe to @CentralAsiaPlusAero
