If we're friends on LinkedIn, we have probably worked together in my former capacity in consulting or operations. During this phase of my life, I struggled immensely with chronic stress and anxiety, low mood and panic attacks. Four years ago in January 2020, I embarked on the experience of a lifetime, travelling to India to complete an incredibly rigorous, 12-week meditation teacher training program. I was compelled to learn how to teach the practice that I learnt myself in 2017, that facilitated a complete transformation of my health and wellbeing. Since then, I have been teaching women and men how to take control of their stress levels, improve their sleep, mental clarity, energy levels and mood - by implementing a daily meditation practice. In 2024, I am especially interested in introducing Vedic meditation to the workplace. On almost every single Vedic meditation course I offer from my practice in Freshwater, I teach someone in the dark hole of burn-out. Often, these people are on stress leave and have come to learn meditation as part of their quest to recover their physical and mental health, before they return back to work. I believe that as business owners and leaders of teams, we have a responsibility to support our people to prevent burn-out from happening in the first place. My belief is that businesses can do this by providing opportunities for people to learn practices, skills and knowledge that empower them to stay mentally and physically healthy. Meditation is a huge part of this picture.
