It is National Dispatcher Appreciation Week! Though this week is intended to celebrate emergency service dispatchers, we know that our dispatchers play a crucial role in our organization as well. They are the liaisons between our drivers, our customers, and our operations, maintenance, and safety teams. They are the main point of contact for our drivers for everything that happens. They take the plethora of information, requests, problems, and needs that are coming at them from multiple sources all at once and organize it into a seamless workflow. And, they often make it look east, which it definitely is NOT! We absolutely could not do what we do without our Dispatchers. Hats off to them and to dispatchers in every industry!

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, reminding us of the importance of road safety and responsible driving. In 2021 (most recent data) there were 3,522 people killed and an estimated additional 362,415 people injured in motor vehicle traffic crashes involving distracted drivers. As leaders, we prioritize the well-being of our staff and their families. Road safety plays a vital role in protecting our staff and our communities. Distracted driving, including texting, calling, or eating while driving, significantly increases the risk of accidents and injuries. Let’s all commit to maintaining focus on the road, not just for our safety but for the safety of everyone around us. Together, we can make a difference and contribute to reducing the hazards associated with distracted driving. Let's lead by example, promoting a culture of safety and responsibility both within and beyond our organizations!

It’s National Road Safety Week! 🎗️ This week, from May 5 to May 12, we highlight the impact of road trauma and ways we can help to reduce it. This year’s National Road Safety Week theme is ‘All road safety is local – drive so others survive’. Every year, approximately 1,200 people are killed, and over 40,000 are seriously injured on Australian roads. These numbers are growing every year, but are preventable if we choose to drive to survive. This week serves as an important reminder to: ☑️ Never use your mobile phone while driving ☑️ Not speed or drive while tired ☑️ Not drive under the influence of alcohol/drugs You can make a difference on the road to ensure everybody makes it home safely. Remember to drive in the moment, avoid distraction and pledge to drive so others survive. Keep your eyes peeled, because we’ll also be lighting up our bridges and assets yellow this week in remembrance of those that have lost their lives and in support of National Road Safety Week.

Happy Chaos Wednesday! Here's another few more of the unwritten rules of Airfield OPS: Rule 44: During times of IROPS the Operator shall know the time of arrival, type aircraft, responsible ground handler, and who to contact to keep concessions open later. Much like a good Louisiana Saturday night, you can expect that bar to run dry. Make friends with the manager and maybe they'll save you something from the top shelf. I had a restaurant manager named "Tiny" and all I had to do was ask for the "Fat Man Special". (Title changed to make it SFW). Eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, with two slices of pepper jack cheese and remoulade sauce on a croissant. 🤤 Rule 45: Your OPS activity log tells the story. Everyone has to keep the log entries up to date and accurate. 1045: Taxiway fod check 1100: Hangar fod check 1120: Office fod check 1125: Put all of Carl's fod on Carl's desk 1135: Argue with Carl that he had one job 1145: Teach Carl how to use a trash can 1150: updating OPS log entries Your ops log keeps the senior staff informed on activities, and helps jog memories if a situation were to arise and need a report. Also, sometimes it's fun to throw the senior staff for a loop and get a giggle out of them. 1900: found Waldo 1910: lost Waldo 2200: Carl called out, said he has a unique form of posterior glaucoma. Stated he can't see his rear end at work tomorrow. 2205: Stuffed fod in Carl's locker since he has fod induced blindness as well. 2220: Bed time!
