🌟 Thrilled to share her journey with Spectrum News 1 Austin! Future Primitive - Skate Trips and Training Camps Drawing from the rich tapestry of skateboarding culture, let's explore a concept deeply ingrained in its ethos: the "Skate Trip." Similar to structured training camps, these journeys have long been the backbone of skateboarding's development, fostering skill enhancement and camaraderie in equal measure for over six decades. Unlike conventional training regimes, skate trips thrive on an organic blend of exploration and creativity, unfettered by rigid structures. This fluidity is not just a hallmark of skateboarding; it's a testament to the power of embracing diversity and difference in all sports. As we navigate the evolving landscape of Olympic skateboarding, it's vital to honour the traditions that have shaped skateboarding, while embracing the innovations and changes that lie ahead. This delicate balance, encapsulated in a "Future Primitive" mindset, ensures that we progress with purpose and integrity while staying mindful of our roots. In the broader context of high-performance sports in the UK, we're reminded of the importance of supporting one another to challenge the status quo. Just as skateboarding thrives on creativity, so too do other sports that benefit from diverse perspectives and approaches. By liberating ourselves from the confines of accepted norms and embracing critical thinking, we pave the way for inclusivity and growth across the high-performance sports community. Recently, I had the privilege of embarking on a trip to California with the Skateboard GB team. What began as a quest for radical terrain and warmer weather became a journey of skill acquisition and focused training, blurring the lines between leisure and structured development. Was it a skate trip, or did it embody the essence of a training camp? That's for you to decide. Join me in reflecting on the why before rushing into change, for in that pause lies the opportunity to preserve what is effective and excellent. As we share the joys of skateboarding through the lens of our recent adventure, let's ignite conversations that transcend sports and inspire a collective reimagining of what it can truly be. "It’s not that you’re lazy, your dream might not be big enough. While I was on the summer lacrosse circuit this year, a parent approached me and asked, “How do you stay in shape? I’m too lazy to go to the gym." I responded: “You’re here at 7:30 am for an 8 am game on a Saturday in Delaware. I don’t think you’re lazy. Maybe your dream of being in shape isn’t big enough? Lacrosse parents aren’t lazy! - Paying for travel accommodations - Traveling to events - Feeding their kids all weekend - Supporting multiple kids at events - Showing up early for games - Weeknight practices - Packing for long weekends throughout the fall and summer. The reality is it’s really hard, but the dreams parents have for their kids are bigger than how hard it is. If you need to refresh your spirit and find something to be proud of accomplishing. Sign up for that event, conference, race, or lesson you once dreamed about participating in before you’re ready - your actions will allow you to start dreaming again. Sports and nature are intricately woven into the fabric of human existence, each playing a vital role in our physical and mental well-being. Nature provides the backdrop against which sports unfold, offering vast expanses of fields, forests, mountains, and oceans as arenas for athletic endeavors. The natural world serves as both a playground and a training ground, where athletes hone their skills, test their limits, and find inspiration in the beauty and challenges of their surroundings. Step back in time to one of our past projects, a captivating fusion of sports and nature that continues to captivate the imagination. Nestled within the embrace of the forest lies a haven for tennis enthusiasts, where courts stand as silent sentinels amidst the verdant foliage. Though completed some time ago, the allure of these courts remains as enchanting as ever, a testament to the timeless bond between sports and nature. As players engage in friendly matches or intense competitions, they are surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the woodland, a serene backdrop to their athletic endeavors. It's a reminder that even in the passage of time, the magic of sports intertwined with the natural world remains undiminished, inviting us to rediscover the joy of play amidst the splendor of the great outdoors. #sports #sportsinfrastructure #athletes #sportsforall #buildinglegacies #tenniscourts

Pre-order link below summary. Also booking speeches, engagements, readings, and signings now…. Just ping me if I can assist your organization, school or team with inspiration, parent education or team building. Thank you each and all for the support during this process! Summary: Are sports good for kids? Does participation in athletics improve a person's life? Yes, according to Betsy Mitchell, a collegiate athletic director and two-time Olympian, medalist, world champion, record holder, and seven-time NCAA champion swimmer. But according to Mitchell, amateur sports are only beneficial when the focus remains on acquiring skills, developing sportsmanship, and having fun. From her journey competing in sports, she learned many lessons that she applies in her daily life and career. In this inspirational memoir, Betsy writes a love letter to amateur athletes, revealing how the joy and challenges of sports shaped her life and sharing twelve pivotal lessons she learned along the way. "Even as a teenager, I understood that swimming occupied only a part of my life; it was not my whole life. At some point in the future, I would stop swimming and continue with every other aspect of myself." https://lnkd.in/gjid_Bfj

Greater NYC, Tampa, Nashville + - Versatile Play-by-Play & Color Commentator/Personality. AAA Juniors+college (hockey) coll. basketball, horses (jumpers/hunters). Touring commentator/singer-songwriter/comedy writer.
From Thursday August 1, 2024. Nostalgia wins gold, in my New York American Summer. This is one of the many media production project types on which I collaborate. This video is to showcase my commentary beyond hockey, basketball, and football. I take great interest in new subjects. Show jumping horses (hunters/jumpers) have been an area of interest dating back to Lake Placid Summer 2019. In my first two seasons (2019 & 2021), I only covered two weeks of events. In 2022, I added a third week in the Hamptons. Last summer I missed the Hamptons gig, but added six weeks in the Hudson Valley. This Spring-Summer season, I've already covered eight weeks. I still have another four to go. In an average week, I cover some 500 trips where horse and rider attempts/completes a circuit around a jump course. By now I've captured video and recorded and/or broadcasted commentary on approximately 10,000 trips. I'm interested in understanding the broadening context of participants in the sport. This includes learning about course maps and their designers, table formats that tell me about the nature of specific competitions, comparing national and international events and rules, etc. Given that this sport is one of three that I now cover more considerably, my comprehension is rapidly developing. I cover a range of experience and talent levels. From relatively new riders and young horses jumping .80m to top 10 in the world level Grand Prix jumpers clearing 1.50m heights and up, I gain perspectives that show me some of the varying differences in approaches and techniques used from one level to the next. According to https://lnkd.in/eK6XRAZh and https://lnkd.in/erCP_XGc , the rider in my video has been ranked as high as #4 in the world within the last two years. I would otherwise be completely ignorant of such things. But while reviewing my work, I tend to want to know what's interesting beyond the superficial. How can I say, "That horse and rider combo is very good," but with more substance? We all can see that they are very good, but how so? And how can I help my audience comprised of newbies and seasoned experts grow their knowledge, interest, and amusement? You'll find some of my clothing illustrations and designs at grabcreative.teemill.com This shop has a variety of sport illustrations including horse stuff.

Since 2017, our team at Easy Mile Fitness has prioritized Monthly Offsites for our +40 General Managers. With 90 meetings under our belt, these sessions may look a little bit different than the old days, but remain an important space for discussing the business, sharing best practices, and fostering team camaraderie. 📈💡🤝 While each of our Planet Fitness locations is unique, these Offsites allow the team to collaborate on how to address common challenges across the organization. By working together, we can brainstorm innovative ideas to enhance the experience for our ~300,000 members and the 50,000 daily visitors to our facilities. Despite our organization's growth and changes, the commitment to these team gatherings has never wavered. While no longer run by Philip Amato and myself, under the much more effective leadership of Mandi Castagnola and Keishla Tejedor Rodriguez these Offsites have only become a more important part of our business. Looking forward to many more great Offsites to come!👏 #TeamBuilding #Leadership #Collaboration #BusinessGrowth
