Transformation complete ✅
We kicked off 2025 by undergoing a complete transformation for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group's Corteo.
From measuring out where everything needs to go to hanging 67 tonnes of equipment from the roof, the work that went into Corteo has made it a show like no other.
The Blue Ocean theory.
Cirque du Soleil, a Montreal based entertainment company founded in 1984. Before Cirque du Soleil, the circus industry was a highly competitive "red ocean" with many traditional circus companies battling over a shrinking market share. Cirque du Soleil's founders, however, chose to create a "blue ocean" by reimagining the circus experience. Instead of competing with traditional circuses on the same terms, they combined elements of theater, dance, and music to create a unique, high-quality performance experience that attracted a different audience—one willing to pay a premium for something novel and extraordinary. This strategic shift allowed Cirque du Soleil to create a new market space, where competition was irrelevant because they were offering something fundamentally different. This innovative approach led to significant success and established Cirque du Soleil as a global entertainment phenomenon.

From humble beginnings to a $1.4B empire, discover how Cirque du Soleil revolutionized the circus, embraced a blue ocean strategy, and mesmerized audiences globally.
Unlike red ocean strategies, which focus on competing in existing markets, Cirque created uncontested market space, setting them apart in the entertainment industry.

Elevating the guest #experience in a #cinema involves several strategic initiatives that focus on comfort, technology, customer service, and overall ambiance. So is this it for out of home experience? While this pic shows a secure location, it will take much more than consistent content supply to move the recovery dial here and at other similarly aged (but not vintage) venues. #leisurepropertyESS
I'm excited about the growing focus on live experiences. Experiential marketing is booming across all sectors, from major players like The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. Discovery investing billions in their theme parks to mid-size organizations like Gibson, Inc. with its sensorial retail experience 'Gibson's Garage' and, even, restaurant pop-up charts. In-person experiences are accelerating, and many of them are undoubtedly creative and fun to interact with as a customer.
However, it's important to integrate this into your strategy without relying solely on it. The common thread among these successes is that they're built around an IP or franchise, which spans multiple mediums—film, TV, podcasts, events, books, Social, and even VR/AR experiences. Your next marketing plan should focus on creating new experiences and stories that engage your fans, customers, or donors differently at each engagement, encouraging them to migrate from one experience in your brand world to the next.
The best part? With some creativity, this approach can be scaled to fit any budget. Collaborate with your partners and design a brand world experience that we'll be excited to experience.

Warner Bros. Discovery is making a big bet on live experiences like theme parks, studio tours, themed exhibitions and retail, creating a new division meant to capitalize on that opportunity.

The UK is a creative superpower. Tailoring policy that plays to people's perceptions / prejudices; rather than facts is where the UK has gone wrong since 2016 and earlier.
Restricting access to the University courses that drive our creative industries is both economically harmful but also goes against what the Conservatives claim that they stand for - a belief in freedom / not legislating in a way that would reduce the rights of individuals.
Surely people should be allowed to make their own decisions on the paths that they wish to take - especially given that students are paying for their own education(!) (subsidised by foreign students)
If someone wants to study to become an Artist, or Sound Mixer or something. They are adults and funding it themselves. Leave them to make their own decisions.
Students already get a raw deal paying 8% interests on student loans, due to the Tories privatising the Student Loans company. It just reinforces how disconnected the modern Tories are from younger generations, and often, reality.
In 2022 the creative industries generated £126bn in gross value added to the economy and employed 2.4 million people. Disney earned £185bn in 2024. There's a lot of value in working with mice. #creativeindustry#mickeymousedegrees#rishisunak#creators

I think what Cercle is doing with Odyssey will be a huge disruptor in the music performance space for a few reasons:
- High production value that's transferable to multiple markets.
Unlike venues like the Sphere in Vegas, which is struggling to monetize—yes, I saw some of Anyman's videos, and the performances and graphics looked insane—the Sphere itself is still very costly for artists since production assets need to be tailored specifically to the venue. Odyssey, on the other hand, shows us that you can create a transformative venue without relying on massive structural investments, making it far more scalable. This approach allows them to tap into exciting up-and-coming markets like Mexico.
- Immersive, yet grounded in connection.
I was chatting with someone at an event last night about how some venues put performers on actual pedestals, separating them from the crowd. Notice how in Odyssey's renders, the crowd is almost at the same level as the artist. It doesn't feel like a passive experience but rather a journey shared by the artist and the audience.
- Price point.
This is honestly what makes or breaks these kinds of experiences. So far, tickets range from €130-270. I'm curious how prices will vary by market, but this doesn't feel outrageous for the production value you're getting. Here in LA, any decent festival ticket costs about the same. Even going to see a big DJ at the Shrine Expo Hall can cost close to $100 once you factor in taxes and fees. Odyssey seems positioned to compete on price while delivering a way more elevated experience for fans.
Exciting times, looking forward to seeing what Derek Barbolla, Maël Pouliquen and their team has in store for us here in LA!
Monolink in Paris for Cercle Odyssey feels like a natural continuation of our journey together. From his Cercle Show in Maldives to this new chapter, it’s an honor to have his faith in what we’re creating.
Cercle Odyssey isn’t just a concert; it’s an immersive and narrative experience. For the keen-eyed among you, the visuals in this announcement showcase the brilliant work of Neels Castillon and Motion Palace. They’ve brought Ulysses’s journey to life in a modern and deeply emotional way, with four incredible dancers embodying this emotional story.
And yes, there are still surprises to come… but shhh (hi MANE!).
If your company is looking for meaningful partnerships, now is the perfect time to join the adventure. Feel free to reach out!
