In a world increasingly driven by technology, speed, and efficiency, it's easy to lose sight of something that connects us all—our shared environment. As professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs, it’s our responsibility to harness our talents and skills for a greater cause: sustainability. We’ve always believed that creativity and sustainability go hand in hand. Whether you're an artist, designer, fashion enthusiast, architect, or working in any creative field, we all have the power to influence and shape the future for the better. The fusion of creativity and eco-consciousness allows us to reimagine what’s possible, paving the way for innovative solutions that benefit both people and the planet. The upcoming Sustainable Creative Art: Inspiration from Nature (SCIN) Conference is a great platform to explore this dialogue. This conference brings together leading voices in fashion, arts, and design who are committed to making a difference. It’s not just about learning—it’s about connecting with like-minded people who want to transform their industries and inspire others to think creatively about sustainability. Why does this matter? Because our choices today will define the future of generations to come. We are at a critical turning point. The fashion industry alone is responsible for significant waste, yet it also has an incredible opportunity to lead the charge in reducing environmental impact through sustainable practices. The same goes for other creative fields. We encourage everyone—whether you're directly in the creative field or just someone who cares deeply about our planet—to get involved, stay curious, and keep pushing boundaries. Sustainable solutions are not only achievable but also necessary. Check out the Guidelines for Writing an Abstract and Full Article for The Sustainable Creative Art Conference here: https://lnkd.in/gBwQhsEb #sustainability #creative #ecofriendly #ArtMeetsNature #Innovators #designforthefuture #environment #GreenSolutions

Incredible insights from Jobs on the value of careful execution vs the "idea" that applies to business and academic research. We must explicitly acknowledge the value of careful execution; it is crucial to quality and research integrity. The research idea is unambiguously important, but we cannot denigrate the craftmanship involved when dealing with complex tasks/data. We cannot forget that 000s of difficult decisions and turns have shaped our work into something new and better. https://lnkd.in/etKp5s-s

How to design as if humans, society and the environment mattered.
Inspiring creative vision through passion and curiosity. Follow for insights on Art, Design, UX, History, Technology, Data Visualization and Visual Culture.
Following my previous post, where I shared a list of ten high-level principles from my book "The New Designer: Rejecting Myths, Embracing Change", my good friend Chris Colborn suggested doing an edit to make it a bit more concise. I love how compact it is now. It takes one single page. So here I am, sharing it back with the world. Feel free to read, use, print, and share with others. We hope this list will inspire you to develop a thriving, conscientious, and ethical design practice. Thank you Chris. 🙏 🌍 ✨ #thenewdesigner #design #change #principles #myths #impact #designers #society #environment #future #ethics #responsability

Yesterday, Drew Endy and I discussed the power of stories to embody narratives of the future in our Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford ( d.school ) Inventing the Future class. We've long known the power of storytelling to communicate complex issues. When done well, stories connect us at a human level, they allow us to envision new possibilities by marrying content and emotion to make ideas more memorable and meaningful. We did an "A/B" experience on this by watching two versions of the solarpunk-themed "Dear Alice" video about how technology might enable more positive ecological futures. One version was a "de-commodified" narrative and one with commercial overlay. The discussion that followed with students was fascinating. Some important take aways: The stories we share matters. Who tells the story matters. Who's included in those future stories matters. How we share those stories matters. And, our ability to be active, discerning listeners matters. [As our amazing colleague Ahmed Best likes to remind us: "Don't let people future all over you."] This was a particularly fun class to have just before the Super Bowl this weekend -- the highest stakes moment for commercial narratives. Let's see what new narratives unfold!
