Short blog from me on how pre-discovery can help your project succeed, better questions lead to better solutions
💀 To be or not to be? ...what was the question?!? In this blog, we use Hamlet's famous soliloquy as the clunky springboard to introduce the concept of the pre-discovery. Specifically, we talk about how we helped the London Fire Brigade get the best out of their discovery phase, by helping them to ask the best questions. In addition to Business Continuity, social housing providers have a responsibility for the welfare and safety of customers and colleagues. Therefore, it is essential that a clear escalation process is in place as part of an Incident / Crisis Management Plan and appropriate colleagues are trained in response actions for a variety of incident scenarios, such as evacuation of customers. These plans and procedures should be regularly exercised, so that colleagues are familiar with their roles and responsibilities and the plans are fit for purpose. If your housing association requires support to produce plans, train colleagues and facilitate scenario based exercises, contact @bisconplanning (www.biscon.co.uk) #crisismanagement #crisiscommunications #incidentresponse BBC News - Suspected World War Two explosive device found in Plymouth garden https://lnkd.in/eSc6t5KZ

Taking a second to address a rising issue I have witnessed among my community of fellow service members. We were trained to act, to work as a team, to identify the enemy, close with and destroy them (marine corps rifleman mission paraphrased). The part that appears to have been missed is respect, compassion and empathy. Missions aren't always kinetic. They might be humanitarian in nature. Having respect, compassion and empathy is what preserves our noble mission and keeps us on the side of the good and righteous. Small things build into larger ones. I write this because I have personally witnessed a degradation in our service members respect, compassion and empathy. I often come into work an hour early to cleanup around base (palm trees cleanup, line painting, pulling weeds, etc) in an effort to keep our home in a well manicured fashion and give back to the institution that has given me so much throughout my life (USMC). When I am doing this work more times than not, Marines are standing around watching me, on their phones waiting for class to start or for a building to open, not offering to help. The general state of things on base has turned into trash blowing around, over grown palms, weeds and grass, dilapidated buildings and maintenance. 90% of the time these issue could be address by people passing by and taking 10 seconds a day to address them. I ask leaders to pull your service members aside and discuss the concept of respecting ones surroundings, having empathy for the man and woman on their left and right and compassion for those who aren't the enemy. We must hold ourselves to a higher standard.

23 years. For those of us old enough to remember, that day - 9/11/2001 - will be forever etched into the annals of our minds' eyes. For those of us who aren’t…youth who have been old enough to serve in our military for several years now, even…9/11 can appear like just another paragraph in history books. That’s why storytelling is so VERY important. When we tell our stories, we peel the black and white facts off the page and infuse those experiences with emotion and color. When we tell our stories, we are able to pull up a chair for someone who “doesn’t get it,” who has been separated from that experience or event by time or circumstance and close the gap of true understanding. When you watch this tribute to “The heroes of the forgotten maritime rescue mission” of 9/11, you hear…and experience for yourselves…the stories of these brave souls who were there, navigating the terror-filled Manhattan waters through smoke and debris in order to ferry as many lives as possible out of a crumbling city skyline. https://lnkd.in/eQ8353sN Theirs are by no means the only portraits of heroism from that day, and we honor both the told and untold stories of this tragedy of our nation. We mourn the lost and those who continue to be devastated or afflicted by the effects of the events on and connected with September 11th. But we hope that these captains' experiences - shared as their own stories, in their voices - help eliminate any distance these 23 years have created and, instead, allow you to pull up a chair and sit beside these heroic mariners and all of your fellow citizens as you share in the storytelling of our people.🕯️🇺🇸 🔵For stories of the “call to service” impact 9/11 had, you can read this USO article, “Why 9/11 Inspired These Service Members to Join the Military,” at: https://lnkd.in/ebPUbPZ2 #September11th #PatriotDay #NationalDayofServiceandRemembrance #NeverForget

Helping the world understand wildfire resilience, prevention, and mitigation || Wildfire chemicals || Wildfire prevention technologies || Aerial firefighting & fleet development
I am so excited to see these assets finally being deployed. The unfortunate reality is that they were needed and would have been most effective when these fires were just being reported. Follow up on the ground is so important, so it's also wonderful to see the firefighters there in the background of the video. Moving forward it's critical that state and federal legislators and agencies really understand when and where aircraft can be effective. The name of the game for agencies in wildfire is RAPID INITIAL ATTACK. The name of the game for home and property owners is BE PROACTIVE, LIVE FIREWISE. If we do this together, the fire service can concentrate on perimeter control, versus structure protection. When fires are this large, suppression resources are spread thin, often to a point of ineffectiveness. Every minute counts.
