In honor of Military Appreciation Month, businesses must double-down on their efforts to support veterans entering the civilian workforce. These individuals face a host of challenges. For example, did you know that workplace stigmas force 40% of veterans to hide their military background, or that just 19% employers believe veterans have communication skills? Did you also know that the unemployment rate for veterans rose to 3.2% this year? Businesses need to do better at recognizing and leveraging the value of military experience, not only because it’s the least they can do to support those who served our country, but also because it’s the key to remaining innovative, agile and competitive.
