🕵🏻♂️🕵🏻♂️🕵🏻♂️ 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 Today, the Commission is presenting three initiatives to advance transnational cooperation between higher education institutions, with the ultimate goal of creating a European degree. A voluntary European degree would benefit students and the higher education community by boosting learning mobility within the EU and by enhancing students' transversal skills. It would help meet labour market demand and make graduates more attractive for future employers in Europe and globally while, at the same time, attracting students from around the world and boosting European competitiveness. 👨🏻🎓👨🏻🎓👨🏻🎓 🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺 #Education #EuropeanUnion #bettertogether

📢The amendment by European Commission to the #HorizonEurope Work Programme is a significant development in the EU’s commitment to research and innovation.💯 By reallocating unspent funds, the EU has significantly increased the budget for 2024, which can have multiple implications and potential benefits: ➡️1. Support for EU Missions: With nearly €650 million allocated, these funds will support ambitious projects like making over 100 cities climate-neutral. This directly addresses environmental sustainability and urban development, crucial aspects in combating climate change. ➡️2. New European Bauhaus Initiative: This initiative, inspired by the historical Bauhaus movement, blends art, culture, social inclusion, science, and technology to create a more aesthetic and sustainable future. The increased funding can foster innovative design and architecture solutions that are environmentally friendly and socially inclusive. ➡️3. Encouraging Newcomers: By funding experimental actions that open research and innovation opportunities to newcomers, the EU is broadening its innovation base. This could lead to fresh ideas and perspectives in the research community, potentially driving novel breakthroughs. ➡️4. Overall Impact on Research and Innovation: The budget increase to €7.3 billion allows for more extensive funding of research projects, which can stimulate job creation, technological advancements, and economic growth within the EU. This also enhances the EU's global competitiveness in key innovative sectors. These strategic investments in research and innovation are crucial for addressing contemporary challenges through advanced science, technology, and inclusive approaches. This also indicates a strong commitment to future-proofing the EU's economies and societies against global issues like climate change, and to fostering an inclusive environment where new entities can contribute to research and innovation. 🌿 Weisser Fleck: Rethinking Urban Maintenance and More-than-Human Life 🌿 Weisser Fleck is not just an artistic intervention—it's a living artwork, a scientific experiment, and a conceptual provocation challenging the way we approach urban maintenance. By ‘drawing’ a 10-meter diameter circle on the façade of a housing block in Vienna, we remove a layer of biopatina—a thin, living layer of microorganisms—to reveal its existence and demonstrate its importance to urban life. This subtractive act—removing matter from the building surface—creates a powerful image in negative space. While the circle is formed by removal, it visually adds something new, asking us to reconsider the urban surfaces we take for granted. The intervention might only take a few hours, but its impact is long-lasting, sparking questions about urban biodiversity, sustainability, and what constitutes a healthy city. At its core, the removal of this biopatina is a violent act against non-human life, but it’s one intended to provoke reflection. Should we really strive to eliminate these microorganisms, or should we learn to live with them? Weisser Fleck opens a conversation about how we care for our cities and the more-than-human life that inhabits them. https://lnkd.in/dWhUZdD9

For the first time in our history, TEDxMarshallU has created an open call for speakers for our upcoming "Beyond Borders" event on March 8, 2025. We're soliciting 3-minute video pitches of ideas related to the theme which are due this Sunday, October 27th. Our Theme: We are seemingly separated by many borders between places, people, and ideas. These physical and invisible borders take many shapes and forms, but what happens when we think outside the boxes to which we’re confined? When we look beyond our borders, we uncover limitless possibilities that can introduce us to a new world of diverse outlooks and innovative mindsets. We may even come to understand the reasons why some borders are necessary. Give us a talk that challenges our ideas about the world and help us explore how going “Beyond Borders” can inform, shape, and redefine our human experience. What We're Looking For: We're looking for individuals with unique and compelling ideas and outlooks related to our theme. As you consider pitching a talk idea, think of how you define borders and how you can help our audience move beyond borders. For more information and to submit a video pitch of your idea, please go to the following link: https://lnkd.in/ey2cCgzb
