The Urban Agenda for the EU develops innovative and collaborative solutions to tackle urban challenges. With urban areas at its core, it relies on multi-level cooperation between Member States, cities, the European Commission and other stakeholders to help tackle social challenges, stimulate growth, liveability and innovation in European cities. Over 100 Actions are being implemented by our 16 Partnerships, contributing to Better Regulation, Better Knowledge and Better Funding at the local, regional, national, and EU level, in line with UN Sustainable Development Goals.

  • 🌍 Building Decarbonisation Partnership Moves Forward in Defining Key Focus Areas 🎉 🔸In recent meetings, partners have been actively exploring and grouping priority areas that will serve as the focus of the Partnership in the coming month. 💡A co-creative session on March 18 helped refine key themes such as multi-level governance in heating and cooling strategies, heat pump readiness, citizen engagement in decarbonisation efforts and people-centred approaches, vertical and horizontal integration among governmental bodies, integrated renovation programmed, financial solutions for large-scale renovations, and the role of innovative business models and digital tools in accelerating progress.   • 📢Key Takeaways from the 2nd Water Sensitive City Partnership Meeting! Following the successful launch in late January, the #WaterSensitiveCity Partnership, coordinated by the Comunidade Intermunicipal da Região de Coimbra, held its second online meeting on February 26. With 28 participants, the session aimed to refine the Partnership’s thematic focus, aligning it with the key topics of interest shared by the partners. 🏢💧Key issues covered included sustainable water management, addressing water scarcity, excess, and quality, as well as nature-based solutions like blue-green infrastructure for flood prevention and urban cooling.   • Cities of Equality Partnership Moves a Step Closer to the Action Plan🎉 On 6-7 March 2025, members of the Urban Agenda for the EU “Cities of Equality” Partnership gathered in Heerenveen, the Netherlands, for an intensive in-person meeting to finalise the Draft Action Plan. Hosted by the Gemeente Heerenveen, this gathering provided a key opportunity for partners to fine-tune proposed actions, set a collaborative implementation timeline, and design a strategy for public consultation.
