We were thrilled to design and produce this welcome event for Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum! Thank you BizBash for highlighting our work on this project. “Our whole purpose was to do something different,” explained, Russell Harris CMP. “Everyone thinks, ‘Let’s show the Hollywood sign or Hollywood Boulevard’—but our idea was to go a bit deeper and showcase the melting pot of culture to this international audience.” #ipw24 #losangeles #ustourism #bizbash

Tented venues on comeback or archaic relic? The event's destination/venue is crucial in todays ever changing trend and social media driven landscape. From set jetting to bleisure travel, picking the right destination and venue for your upcoming Convention or Event whether business or leisure can make the world of difference in terms of your attendees' motivation to attend. Appealing to their sense of adventure, fulfilment, renewed perspective, renewed sense of time and its value has become crucial in motivating people to travel. ✅️Return on experience(ROE) was coined and birthed at the end of 2022 and was the "buzzword" of 2023! Undoubtedly for 2024, the industry will be striving for nothing less than "experiential", another word used heavily by meetings and events professionals. Thoughts for the conscious and subscious: ➡️What emotions will you invoke when your destination is announced? ➡️Was the destination selection poll driven or trend driven? ➡️Are there any destination pre-conceptions or stereotypical road blocks that will need to be addressed? Please share your thoughts in comments. #events

There are many reasons why autumn is a great time for meetings and events in Copenhagen, and Sabrina Meyers (she/her) - Events and Social Media walks us through some of them in the video below.👇 We’ve reached the last month of autumn, and while temperatures have dipped and the weather has turned a little bit more unstable, it’s actually a great time for meeting and event planners to experience Copenhagen.🍁 📍Everything is less crowded compared to summer 📍The city is full of great museums and indoor venues 📍It's easier to get a table at your preferred restaurant 📍The city is full of events and activities 📍Shorter days mean more “hygge” 📍 The Gløgg (mulled wine) season kicks off And, of course, you still have access to the same great hotels and venues.🍁 #eventprofs #meetingprofs #copenhagen #mice

PT2. Why your event matters to the community you select. Take a minute to tune in to this breakdown by Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau and Visit Miami. The impact of meetings, events, and bleisure tourism runs deep throughout the communities that host them. To the naked eye, it may seem just another large convention or tourist heading out on a cruise; but in truth, the importance of the opportunities created cannot be entirely quantified. MEDIA RELEASE – 14th May 2024 Representatives of Islands Unlimited will be in Jersey next week to meet with stakeholders across as many sectors as possible. The purpose of their 2-day visit on 20th and 21st May is to gain a better understanding of how their service should be shaped for 2025. Director and Co-Founder, Kai Junghanns explains, “This year, we have teamed up with Manche Iles for sailings between the Islands, however, we will be operating our own vessel from 2025 onwards. In order to get the best possible arrangements established for next year, we are keen to involve as many stakeholders as possible, across all sectors”. During 2024, Islands Unlimited is offering daytrip packages and ferry only excursions between the Channel Islands in order to improve connectivity for foot passengers and enhance the offering and experiences for visitors. During their visit, meetings will take place with a broad range of organisations and businesses, including Visit Jersey, sport clubs, event organisers, Ports of Jersey, local government and other relevant parties who have shown an interest in improved inter-island travel. Fellow Director and Co-Founder, Chad Murray went on to say, “Our focus is to provide a consistent, reliable and appropriate service for foot passengers, in order to link-up all of the Channel Islands. This is something that has been missing for years now and has a negative impact on visitor experiences and, of course, the opportunities for locals to travel between the Islands at convenient times and affordable rates.” He went on to say “We have received a significant representation from many different organisations, not just tourism, asking for services to assist with their particular event or activity. This is something we are extremely keen to be able to say “yes” to in 2025”. Islands Unlimited will be hosting a series of meetings at the Grand Jersey Hotel and Spa over the 2 days and have already contacted a number of stakeholders. If you represent an organization or club and would like to meet with them to discuss your potential thoughts and needs for 2025, please email contact@islands-unlimited.com to arrange a meeting slot.

Few weeks ago, I had shared that having The Event Industry listed under Travel and Tourism in the hospitality industry chart could be the reason it doesn't attract many opportunities. Link attached (https://lnkd.in/dKZxv56i) You can imagine my joy when I came across an article from far away Europe that shares the same ideology that the event industry should be a Stand-alone industry. Not only that, they are also conducting research to show that the event industry is a creative industry as well and I can't wait to read the outcome of the research. A discussion I have also had with creative groups in the past as to why the event industry is being sidelined in that sector as well. Even if not all sectors in the Event industry but the decorators that use their creativity to transform venues should at least be included in the creative sector discussion. Another area to address is engaging the Event industry in the informal sector discussion because I almost went nuts a few days ago when someone told me that, he didn't see the need to involve the event industry in the research they did for the informal sector because the event industry impact is negligible in the society 🙆♀️🙆♀️ (I will share the full story one day) To reiterate, the event industry should be a Stand-alone industry, be included in creative and informal sector discussion as it plays a role in helping curb unemployment in the society. Attached is a screenshot of the article of Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP). #eventindustry #tvet #informalsector #creativeindustry #hospitalityindustry

The Society of the Crossed Keys scene in "The Grand Budapest Hotel," a great movie by Wes Anderson, struck me again when I recently watched it again. For those who have yet to see the movie, the Society is a secret group of the best hotel concierges who can help each other when needed. 🔑 Why the Society of the Crossed Keys Resonated with Me. This scene isn't just a fun way to tell a story; it's also a potent metaphor for the kind of network we should all try to build: efficient, resourceful, and tied together by a sense of community. In today's fast-paced world, a reliable network isn't just a nice-to-have; it's a must. 🤝 The Power of Solidarity. No matter what, the people in the Society are always willing to help. We should bring this level of togetherness into our work lives. Whether it's a coworker who needs advice, a friend who needs help, or a link who needs a job, being there for others makes their lives better and ours. 🌐 Building Your Own 'Society of the Crossed Keys'. 1. Be resourceful: Always find ways to give your network more value. Share your ideas, offer to help, and take the initiative. 2. Be quick because time is running out. Act quickly and effectively when someone in your network needs help. 3. Be loyal: Trust is the foundation of any strong network. Keep your promises, and don't tell anyone else. 4. Be welcoming: A strong network comprises many different people. Include people with different backgrounds, skills, and jobs. Ultimately, your network's strength isn't based on how many connections you have but on how good those relationships are. Weak connections bring more helpful information than stronger connections (M. Granovetter, 1983). #Networking #SocialAction #Teamwork #BusinessEthics #TheGrandBudapestHotel #SocietyOfTheCrossedKeys #Leadership #SocietyOfTheCrossedKeys https://lnkd.in/dZZhc7xV
