Author of world's first book on Cyber Vigilance! Promoting cyber vigilance to help businesses stay cyber safe
Great initiative from the megacorps, which is based on the following narrative- "AI-assisted hacking can be the arch-enemy of cyber safety." Let's examine this presumption carefully. AI systems will need enormous amounts of breach and vulnerability-related data to train themselves to be meaningful to hackers. Does this data really exist within the hacker community? If it does, then why is the same data not available to cyber safety defenders, who can use it to build better and impregnable defenses? In other words, if AI can be used for hacking then what prevents it from being used for defending? Why have these megacorps NOT created initiatives to build cyber-safe products using AI? I am afraid that AI is being used to create a one-way narrative to sell new products. Your views and comments will be appreciated.
Microsoft, OpenAI, Nvidia join feds for first AI attack simulation Federal officials, AI model operators and cybersecurity companies ran the first joint simulation of a cyberattack involving a critical AI system last week. Why it matters: Responding to a cyberattack on an AI-enabled system will require a different playbook than the typical hack, participants told Axios. The big picture: Both Washington and Silicon Valley are attempting to get ahead of the unique cyber threats facing AI companies before they become more prominent. Security has historically taken a back seat as new technologies go mainstream, leaving many companies flat-footed when cyber threats adapt to hit these devices. But as AI tools become more commonplace, hackers could use them to speed up attacks and scale them, Clayton Romans, associate director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC), told Axios. https://lnkd.in/gz4RTxBm #CyberSecurity #AI #attacksimulation #Microsoft #OpenAI #Nvidia
