We know this works with DV survivors. $1500 cash was more effective in helping women obtain permanent housing after fleeing their abuser (96% permanently housed at 1 year - our results) than weeks in shelter (75% end up in the streets or are forced back to their abuser). To this day I’m stunned we don’t invest in solutions this way. The only reason I can see is that we hold on to power over rather than power with.
