This is what I’m talking about! Check out this program!
The Office of Career Success and Experiential Education recently piloted the International Career Advancement Program to transform the first-year experience for international students on the New York City and Long Island campuses. The 12-week program gave students a chance to work on U.S.-based career competency topics such as résumé building, interviewing/elevator pitch, self and career exploration, and careers in nonprofit management. They also worked on a team project and presented to peers, faculty, and staff.

Brilliant to hear reports of #careersimpactsystem in practice across our Careers Hubs. Practitioners working in a peer to peer review format assessing the impact of their careers programmes through the lens of continuous improvment using a tested maririty model. This practice is as powerful in colleges as it is in schools, special schools and alternative provision. #careersimpact #qualityandimprovement #careershubs #careersleaders #principals #furthereducation
What an incredible day talking all things #careers with: ➡️ John Walker Liam Evans Luke Read (He/Him) South Gloucestershire and Stroud College ➡️ Jenna Cains City of Bristol College ➡️ Ben Knocks Anna Holton Weston College It was a fantastic opportunity to #pilot the new Careers Impact System in a few of the West of England Combined Authority #colleges, using the careers maturity model to drive forward continuous improvement to achieve impact in careers for the young people in our region and transform to a distributed, whole college approach to careers leadership. Thank you for your open reflection and being so onboard with the most important part of the process of which was the constructive peer on peer review element of the day. Some fantastic discussions and actions have come out of the day, including some great collaborative ideas that we can move forward together, which makes me really excited for the future. Thank you to Julie Ilogu for her wonderful note taking and support through the process and Sian Gresswell from The Careers & Enterprise Company for joining us to reflect on the system for colleges. How would the world be different if everyone was fulfilled at work? What if people found the right path for themselves sooner, and once they found it, accelerated their ability to be successful in their new field? In today's reality, the gap between education and the modern workforce is wide and needs to narrow substantially to prepare today's youth for tomorrow's workforce. This is one of the reasons for our recent acquisition of the Teacher Career Coach ®.

recently read… “We have all been taught as girls that if we work hard, the rewards will follow. That if we put in our best efforts, that that will be seen and appreciated. And that worked well for us in school and university. If we studied hard for the exam, we got a good grade. If we pushed ourselves in that school project, we were applauded for our great effort. And then… something changed. As we hit the workforce, we found out that this rule of effort = reward, no longer applied. Just hamsterwheelin’ every day - producing great results, getting amazing things done (and yes, getting exhausted in the process) - was no longer enough to get rewarded. It turns out that unlike at school, in business there isn’t necessarily a direct relationship between the level of the work that you do and how much reward you receive for it. Many other factors come into play when it comes to career advancement and recognition. If you want to have a great career, doing great work isn’t enough. Say it with me: if you want to have a great career, you need to do great work AND HAVE THE RIGHT PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT. You need the right internal and external stakeholders to know what you are capable of. They need to know who you are and what you can do for them, so that when they need that, they will think of you. Building that visibility for you and your great work, in a comfortable, authentic, confident way, is a key skill and practice that will ensure you will have a great career. Creating those kinds of relationships with the right people – again: comfortably, authentically, confidently – will guarantee you get rewarded for all the hard work you are doing.”

Not so dry January is done and Feb is off with a HUGE week at Psalt HQ and we're ready. I never did a "things I learned in my first year" post on LI. A lot of the learnings are ongoing but would've looked something like this: - Doors of opportunity remained closed if you don't have the keys to unlock it - Grad schemes are a great entry route - they are not enough. - First Line Manger is your world, they need all the support and skills to be able to live up to that. And that's down to organisations. - Support doesn't stop once someone's in role, you need more. - A lot of organisations share the same challenges - it's really hard to do it alone. This week is huge because it's the first step of the Pathway that delivers talent that changes the industry. Sounds grandiose but that's how it feels. That first step is the first module of the our first Come Correct Cohort (there'll be 3 this year). Handing over the keys for our community to unlock their potential over the next 12 weeks via workshops/webinars and everything in-between. I've been coerced by Sam Akinluyi to share the journey - I'm buzzing to do that. If you're an FMCG organisation interested in the Pathway, leroymarke@psaltgroup.co.uk If you're a Young Black person interested in Come Correct - comercorrect@psaltgroup.co.uk

Choosing a business school aligned with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) principles can help future-proof your career in today’s job market. With recent studies finding a positive correlation between profitability and diversity in the workplace, selecting a business school that equips graduates to lead with a focus on DEI is crucial. Prospective student priorities are evolving in line with this. A recent by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) outlined that more than half of business school applicants wouldn’t consider a school that lacked sustainability, equity, and inclusion practices. So, what are the best business schools in the US that promote diversity and inclusion? Here we summarize the top six. https://bit.ly/3JMiJvk
