We're proud to support the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) and Austin Pathways' Summer Youth Internship Program, offering eligible youth valuable volunteer experiences and a stipend for participation. This summer, students gained real-world skills and career insights while working with local organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of Austin, Meals on Wheels of Central Texas, and the Economic Growth Business Incubator. Congratulations to all of the 2024 Summer Youth Interns and a huge thanks to HACA for positively impacting the lives of all their residents!

Joseph Percival Allen University Professor of Economics and Director of Management Fellows at DePauw University
I love this! Jack Rutstein, one of our senior Management Fellows, was featured in The Wall Street Journal. In the immortal words of Calvin Coolidge (one of my favorite presidents): “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On!' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” ― Calvin Coolidge Jack Rutstein embodies this characteristic. Such grit and determination are the lifeblood of success and the central focus of our business program at DePauw University, e.g., Jon Phillips will touch on this topic this Thursday in our capstone course - see you there, Jack! Resiliency is all too rare. Too few accept the challenge of forging their own path. Jack, I am proud of you and your resiliency. I can't wait to see you blaze your path. #depauw #resilience #persistence
My past, present, and future plans were all well-represented in the The Wall Street Journal this morning. Four years at DePauw University including my semester-long internship at Pacers Sports & Entertainment, and my recent summer internship that led to a post-graduate role at Paradox. A special nod to Lindsay Ellis for creating the wonderful thinkpiece which features other like-minded college seniors who also networked their way to a new heights. Additionally, thanks to Lauren K. who was also quoted, representing the Paradox enzo well. The full article can be seen here: https://lnkd.in/didnRA-K

Husband, Father, Son, Friend, Coach and Fractional Chief Revenue Officer | Breaking Sales Barriers and Scaling Businesses from 1M to 100M
The first week of summer vacation for my kids is here. We're gearing up for summer camps and activities. This time of year takes me back to my college internship, where I ran sports camps for the local YMCA. We started and ended each day by reviewing the core values: Caring Respect Honesty Responsibility. We would talk about these as we opened the day, and at the end of the day, we would ask if anyone saw any of the campers displaying these behaviors. Those who did were rewarded with a little prize and a round of applause. If organizations reward and recognize core values, they will continue to permeate through the organization. Think about what behaviors are being rewarded and emulated and which ones you want to be magnified.

Some of the students got stuck after "What's your name?" and "What do you do?" at our networking workshop. They feel like they cannot ask anything not professionally-related during networking. We told them to ask about their job as follow ups: What is your favorite part about your job? What are your challenges? What is your company culture like? Meanwhile, in the back of the room, Michelle Quevedo-Penn and I reminisced about me breaking the ice by talking about a great carnitas joint around the corner from where we were and how she was looking for ways to welcome new team members. 😆 So, what is your networking style? Are you all business? Or are you more casual? What are some of your networking icebreaker questions? And why is it not "What's your favorite dinosaur?" #networkingtips #professionaldevelopment
“You keep saying ‘Your network is your net worth,’ but how DO you network?” We are so glad you asked, interns, because Friday’s summer workshop covered networking best practices, among other things! What an action-packed morning at LA Harbor College for our interns! We started with a networking practice. Then our newest board member Michelle Quevedo-Penn of Poppy Bank answered all the burning financial literacy questions. (No, credit cards are NOT free money!) Then a special treat! Los Angeles Harbor College President Dr. Luis Dorado dropped by to give a warm welcome to our interns before they set off on a campus tour. Thank you for being such a wonderful host! Special thanks to our internship program sponsors who helped fuel our students’ career dreams: Port of Los Angeles and Prologis! #expinternship #opportunityengine #workforcedevelopment #careerreadiness
