Phase 1 work continues on the Port of Los Angeles and Caltrans District 7 SR 47 Interchange project. Work in the coming months will occur along Front Street and the realigned Knoll Drive with the construction of utility lines and roadway improvements. Construction to the on- and off- ramp north of the Vincent Thomas Bridge will resume after approximately four months, which will allow the soil to settle. The Port of Los Angeles handled a record 954,706 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in September, a 27% increase over the previous year. It marked the close of the busiest quarter ever at the Port, which processed over 2.8 million container units in the last three months. In today's news briefing, Port Executive Director Gene Seroka is joined by Matthew Shay, President and CEO of the National Retail Federation, who discusses the impact of the East and Gulf Coast labor disruption on retailers as well as supply chain trends for the fourth quarter.
