A wonderful step and one of the pioneering steps taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Countries that encourage companies to find environmentally friendly energy sources, such as Norway, have begun using ammonia and then extracting hydrogen from the latter as fuel for ships. An example of this is the Colorline ship, which sails daily from Norway to Germany and vice versa. According to the DNV 2019 report, it is expected that the use of ammonia as fuel will constitute approximately more than 2 EJ/yr and approximately 25 percent of the fuel used in the maritime transport sector.

. Here's a breakdown of the key points: SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company is establishing a new plant in Jubail. This facility will focus on producing low-carbon blue ammonia and urea. Blue ammonia refers to ammonia produced from natural gas or hydrogen with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies, thereby reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional methods. Urea, a crucial component in fertilizers, will be produced at this plant. The urea will then be converted into specialized fertilizers, aligning with agricultural needs while contributing to sustainable practices. This initiative is part of SABIC's broader efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. By focusing on low-carbon technologies like blue ammonia production, they aim to reduce their carbon footprint significantly. The project has received approval from the Ministry of Energy, indicating governmental support and alignment with national sustainability goals. Overall, this project underscores SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the chemical and agricultural sectors, contributing positively to environmental stewardship and global carbon reduction efforts.
