During their stay at the Crisis Nursery, Anna and David got to play, laugh and develop age-appropriate skills. The comforting, home-like environment of the Nursery allowed the twins to sleep soundly, eat nutritious meals, and engage in activities that were exciting for each of them as individuals. There are hundreds of kids like Anna and David who rely on the Crisis Nursery to keep them safe during an important time in their development. This early intervention prevents child abuse and neglect in our community and gives parents the tools they need to build a strong future for their families. Please share this story to support the work of Sacramento Children’s Home’s Crisis Nursery. #crisisnursery

As parents and educators, fostering a supportive environment for children to flourish is paramount. Here's how we can reinforce safety and empower them: Exploring Personal Boundaries: It's crucial to educate children about personal boundaries, including who can and cannot touch certain parts of their bodies. They should understand that some areas are private and only trusted individuals like parents or doctors should access them. Identifying Bodyguards: Besides parents, children should know who their trusted "bodyguards" are—individuals they can rely on when parents aren't available. This could be a teacher, another family member, or a close family friend. It's essential to establish clear lines of communication with these individuals. Teaching Danger Signs: Children need to recognize danger signs, such as inappropriate touching or requests involving their private parts. They should understand that such actions are not acceptable and should raise immediate concern. Responding to Danger: When faced with a dangerous situation, children should feel empowered to say no and seek help. They should know to run to their designated bodyguard or a safe place until help arrives. By reinforcing these principles and fostering open communication, we equip children with the knowledge and confidence to navigate potential risks and stay safe. #childabuse #childrenwelfare #childhoodtrauma #childabuseawareness #mentalhealthawareness #childdevelopment #educateyourchild
