For our stars of the summer, the time is now. Noah Lyles is the current 100m and 200m world champion, racing for a place in history. Sasha Zhoya is a hurdler, he specializes in overcoming obstacles on the track and in life. Peres Jepchirchir is the world record holder and defending champion. She intends to keep it that way. Back when Felipe Gustavo started skating in Brasília, he never thought his skateboard would take him this far. Kieran Reilly is the current BMX Fresstyle world champion. He's been defying gravity since he was 11 years old. Swimmer Sümeyye Boyacı started chasing a dream against the odds and now it's in reach. All eyes on them, but no pressure in sight. #YouGotThis

The Olympic program has come a long way since its inception in 1896. Croquet and tug-of-war were once Olympic sports, with croquet making its only appearance in 1900 and tug-of-war returning five more times until 1920. As the world changes, so does the Olympic program. This year, two sports make their Olympic debuts, while several others are making a comeback. Host countries can now nominate one-off events that "enhance the popularity of the Games," ensuring that the program remains fresh and exciting. Celebrate the diversity and evolution of the Olympic program, and keep cheering on your favorite athletes as they strive to be faster, higher, stronger, and yes, even floatier.🏅🌊 #olympics #newsport #oldsport #staypositive #happylaw

USA Olympians get paid for winning medals! 🥇🥈🥉 Here's how our swimmers did! 🏊♂️ 👇 Torri Huske earned the most among all U.S. swimmers, taking home a staggering $261,875.00! Katie Ledecky followed closely with $250,714.29, while Bobby Finke topped the men's earnings with $145,000.00. Athletes earn their money through the USOPC and USA Swimming. The funds are categorized as Standard Funds from the USOPC and Enhanced Funds from USA Swimming’s budget. Relay participants also receive shared earnings from these funds. Notably, many athletes, including Torri Huske, are still NCAA competitors. Thanks to the Operation Gold program, they are allowed to retain their earnings, per NCAA regulations. Here's a breakdown of the earnings by swimmer:

Higher, Stronger…Slower? Why the Paris Olympic Pool Has a Problem The Paris Games has produced a surprising lack of world records so far. Some think it may be because the pool is unusually shallow The pool constructed on the customary site of a rugby pitch measures 2.2 meters deep. At recent Olympics, the pool has always been around 3 meters deep—a difference of nearly 3 feet. To understand why that matters, it’s important to remember that swimming isn’t just a dynamic exercise. It’s also an exercise in fluid dynamics. Every movement swimmers make with their hands and feet creates small waves that rebound off the bottom of the pool. No movement has more potential for waves than swimmers’ initial dive into the water. The shallower the pool, the more those waves ricochet back to the swimmers on the surface, creating a more turbulent aquatic environment that isn’t conducive to top speeds. In the future, pools as shallow as the one at these Games won’t be allowed. World Aquatics enacted a minimum depth of 2.5 meters for swimming and water polo in January 2023. When Paris had its bid accepted for the Olympics in 2017 and the swimming facility was approved, regulations allowed for a pool of 2.2 meters.

The USA Olympic Trials for swimming finished yesterday (June 15-23). What an event to take part in. It's known as The Meet of Tears for a reason. The years of training and preparation. The burden of expectation, stress, and fear of failure. The joy of qualifying and the despair of missing out. And then you see the photo of the pool with the crowd right there! Check out this post from Mel Stewart OLY. The article gives great insight into the event. #performance #mindset #swimming
Confession. Yes, I’ve won Olympic gold, but I am also a member of the “Olympic Trials 3rd Place Club” - For the non-swimming fans, if you get 3rd at U.S. Olympic Trials, you stay home and watch the Olympics on TV. And it is a very tough Olympics to watch when you were so close to making the team. That is why we also call Olympic Trials “The Meet of Tears”

⚡ Who's the most successful athlete in the world? Its really debatable but many consider Michael Phelps to be one of the greatest with 28 Olympic medals achieved for his feats in swimming. But do you recognize this woman? I'm guessing not. This is Trischa Zorn. She's also an incredible swimmer. As a matter of fact, she almost DOUBLED Phelp's medal achievements with a whopping 55 medals! 41 of which are GOLD. Why don't you know her? 2 reasons, in my opinion: 1) the platform she competed on - the Paralympics, she's blind since birth. 2) because she had no content - no pageantry, no commercials, nothing buzzworthy was shared. My point here is that when it comes to marketing your business (or yourself), the platform/arena/niche/market you compete in matters dramatically. As does the CONTENT you need to produce. Without content, you will never be known. Making you known is what I do for a living. Learn more here https://lnkd.in/g3aXXaFw and let's discuss what you wanna be known for

Before heading into the weekend, here’s what’s “Top of Mind” for me this week in industry news: Read: Most wouldn’t have predicted the success of the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Lucas Oil Stadium, which surpassed previous attendance records by 100K+ over nine days. Now, other teams and stadiums are hopeful for a chance to host the 2028 trials, with SoFi Stadium slated to host all swimming events for LA28. https://lnkd.in/eY4k25Rb Think: Though once ignored, decaf caffeine is experiencing a resurgence with more specialty roasters expanding their decaf offerings. Is this the latest health-driven cultural trend or a sign that we’re just over caffeinated? https://lnkd.in/eVCSF_y9 Know: The summer box office is heating up, spurring a new advertising push after a 41% YOY increase in Q1. With the summer movie slate including major studio projects like Deadpool and Wolverine, expect this number to continue climbing well into fall. https://lnkd.in/eR7FCvCj

The Olympic medal count system can be seen as #insane and #unfair due to several reasons. Firstly, it doesn't account for the varying levels of difficulty and competitiveness across different sports. For instance, #swimming and #gymnastics have numerous events, offering more medal opportunities, while sports like #rugby and #baseball have very few. This disparity can unfairly skew the medal tally in favor of countries excelling in sports with multiple events. Additionally, sports like #athletics and #football, with higher global participation, often see stiffer competition, making medals harder to come by compared to niche sports like #equestrian. The system also fails to recognize the individual brilliance required in sports with fewer events, like marathon running. Furthermore, team sports like basketball contribute only a single medal despite the collective effort involved. The medal count also overlooks the different investment levels and resources available to athletes from various countries. This system can therefore misrepresent a country's overall athletic capability and investment in sports development. #Olympics #MedalCount #FairPlay #AthleteDiversity #SportsEquality #CompetitionLevels #GlobalParticipation #TeamSports #AthleticInvestment #OlympicChallenges
