Infectious generosity is the idea that small acts of thoughtfulness can combine and ripple out in unexpected ways. He'll explain how you can cultivate your own generous acts - whether of time, talent, money, warmth or kindness - and then help them to spread. No matter how small, these acts of generosity can help to drown out the negativity and inspire millions when they're seen and shared on line.

Recently I heard the Calgary Food Bank talk about current needs, since early 2023 they have seen hamper demand double from 350 to 700 emergency hampers per day. When I started helping deliver hampers in 2020 it was 186, we’re almost four fold higher.
For those who know me, I like data. I emailed the Food Bank and looked at posted reports, perhaps the most concerning for Calgary and Canada is the more than fivefold increase in baby hampers from 2013, 11/day then, 62/day in 2024. I’d be guessing 2024 - but if over all hampers have doubled - are baby hampers over 100 today?
Children are totally innocent, and access to plentiful and healthy food is so important for their development. With minimum wage unchanged since 2018 and new leases up close to 43% since not surprising to see such high demand.
Did you know that Food Banks leverage at rates like 1:3.5 (Calgary) to 1:5 (Hamilton)?
Alberta is unique - with tax receipt leverage at the Calgary Food Bank is at least 1:7, 1:14 with a corporate match.
Tricky subject generosity, but as our food banks and charities across Canada are struggling, it’s a critically important topic.
Helping others is good for our careers, relationships, mental and physical health? Just not too much, as Adam Grant covers in Give and Take, one needs balance.
Our communities need more kindness, and infectious generosity, now more than ever.
Here in Calgary Chris is speaking at noon. Perhaps make his talk a Lunch and Learn?
Miss the talk, Action for Happiness will post, https://lnkd.in/gUJZhzW7
