Today, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Associate Professor, Vinesh Chandra, a stalwart of STEM Education leadership at QUT (Queensland University of Technology). Our conversation touched many points, but the core theme always linked back to the role of human connection in education. A powerful way to start the week! STEM Punks

Day 5: The Toughest Day - A Lesson in Patience and Perseverance I remember a day that stood out as the most challenging in my teaching journey. I was working with a primary 4 student who was struggling to read and pronounce even simple two-letter words. Despite my best efforts, he just couldn't seem to grasp it. I stayed back in school till evening, despite having a headache, determined to help him breakthrough. I used every trick in the book, including playing reading and pronunciation videos on my phone. But nothing seemed to work. Frustration and sadness crept in as I felt like I was failing him. But then, something shifted. I remembered the growth mindset I had instilled in my students, including him. I took a deep breath, regrouped, and approached him with renewed patience and encouragement. And then, it happened! He suddenly exclaimed, "Miss Hannah, I can do it!" The joy and pride in his voice still resonates with me. That day taught me the value of perseverance and patience in teaching. It reminded me that every student learns at their own pace and that progress may not always be linear. I learned to celebrate small victories and to never give up on my students, no matter how tough the day may seem. #TeachForNigeria #TFNImpactStories #TFNLeaders #TFN2022Fellows #TFNSchoolLeaders #TFN2024Graduation #TFN2024GraduationCountdown
