Discover how self-awareness in leadership can drive sustainability and create a lasting impact. In this episode, we also explore Bordeaux's journey towards a greener future and discuss the importance of internal and external change. Takeaways for this episode: - Self-awareness within leadership is crucial in building sustainable companies and enables us to have a lower footprint on our planet. - Learn why Bordeaux is one of Europe's most sustainable cities. - Community Leadership: How did a group of Swiss women, KlimaSeniorinnen, win a landmark case for climate justice at the European Court of Human Rights? - What is wrong with the measures of business success, and what can we change? - In startups, we often see growth for growth's sake and explore why it needs to change. - Listening and self-reflection are essential for understanding our belief systems and how those beliefs influence our decision-making. - As your awareness grows, so does your curiosity, and we start asking ourselves: Why do we need to buy all these things? Can we continue to use what we have? How can we be more purposeful in our actions? #leadershipskills #sustainability #ClimateAction #selfawareness #startups #community

Spotlighting #ImpactFund Managers such as Invisible Heart Ventures’ (IHV2) For evidence of the #impactinvesting industry’s #maturation and #growth, look no further than the latest ImpactAssets 50, a #database of #fundmanagers representing a wide range of #geographies (mainly Africa in our case), sectors (predominantly tech-ventures contributing to the SDGs and agri-businesses (SDG2)), and asset classes (mainly private equity in our case). This year’s list includes 155 #experienced and #emergingimpactfunds (where we still belong to the 2nd category) representing $97 billion in assets, culled from a record number of #submissions (we hope to make the list in 2025). https://lnkd.in/eCbK8dPg

Inequality, its causes and consequences for business is an extremely important topic that cries for attention from business leaders. No business can flourish in a failed society. It's time to take responsibility How the value created in a company is shared among stakeholders is no longer working. It's not fair, and it brings dismal consequences for society. Many of our social problems, being political polarization and radicalization, emigration, crime, education, even some wars, are largely the consequences of an unfair and ineffective distribution of value among stakeholders in the value chain. The problem is that business leaders are not aware or turn a blind eye and hope it will magically go away. This conference helps us understand the causes of inequality, its severe consequences for business across the world, and it offers perspectives on what private businesses can do to reduce inequality. A lot is at stake. Join us on September 18 and 19 at Bolsa de Barcelona and IESE to rethink ownership, governance and rewards to prevent societal collapse. We have this incredible lineup of speakers: 🔸 Agustín Vitórica Gutiérrez-Cortines, CO-Founder and CO-CEO GAWA Capital 🔸Campbell McDonald, CEO at Ownership at Work 🔸Chris Oskam, HEAD OF SUSTAINABILITY Tony's Chocolonely 🔸Colin Mayer, FORMER DEAN OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford 🔸Dean Carter, Former Head of Global People & Culture at Patagonia 🔸Dunia Reverter, CO-FOUNDER at Krisos 🔸Fabrizio Ferraro, Professor STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT at IESE Business School 🔸Joan Martí Estévez, DIRECTOR BUSINESS STRATEGY at ACCIÓ 🔸Marc Castells i Olivella, Founder and Leader at Basetis 🔸Marta Elvira, Professor STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT, IESE Business School 🔸Moritz Schularick, PRESIDENT, Kiel Institute for the World Economy 🔸Oriol Pinya, Founding partner, Abac Capital 🔸Rocío del Mar Álvarez, Director, tuTECHÔ 🔸Steen Thomsen, PROFESSOR CORPORATE GOVERNANCE, Copenhagen Business School A big thank you to IESE Business School, ACCIÓ and Capitalismo Consciente España / Conscious Capitalism Spain for promoting this important topic. Corporate Sustainability Leader, Member of the Board, Investor in nature-positive business models, Podcaster
A hundred years after graduating from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management I had the privilege of speaking in front of an audience of students and young professionals at SensAbility - The WHU Impact Summit together with the likes of Dr. med. Eckart von Hirschhausen and Erik Schäfer. I needed to tell my audience what was on my mind: What they learn at their business schools are too many false beliefs. 1. For decades, they have been teaching us the demand and supply model. Two infinite curves that cross at the perfect price. Spoiler alert: Supply is finite. We only have one planet. 2. They teach us to set up a P&L and to maximize the profit. So far, so good. But maximizing the profit only by Dec 31 like there is not tomorrow is was has gotten us into this mess. Maximize your profit over the next 50 years and learn how to manage finite resources, not extract them! 3. Our P&Ls and the way we calculate the GNP are based on false assumptions. That is why we are growing ourselves poor. Instead, we need to internalize the externalized costs and then maximize the profit. Take responsibility for the harm that you cause upstream and downstream. It is time to see things clearly. Not like the economists of the 60s. Paul Wagenplast Till Brenner Alexander Becker Harco J.
