If you’re a #marine research professional, #oceanographer or #ocean scientist, you’ll want to see the new Bureau of Ocean Energy Management 2025-2026 Studies Development Plan. It includes studies proposed for #Alaska, #Atlantic, #GulfofMexico and #Pacific Outer Continental Shelf areas. #BOEM contacts for each proposed study are listed in the Plan. Then, when you're ready to charter an #offshore #vessel to assist your work, Guice Offshore (“GO”)'s fleet is ready to GO! The North Sea Transition authority has opened a consultation to determine the precise details of exactly what information should be made public and on what timescales for CCUS. Factors included in the consultation cover: Well information – which can be used to better understand the strata and fluids, and safe engineering of wells, including their safe abandonment. Well samples - physical samples can help understanding of the rocks and provide valuable information about the suitability of an area for carbon storage. Geophysical survey information – techniques for imaging and mapping the subsurface, including streamer and ocean bottom seismic surveys, induced polarisation, magnetic, gravity gradiometric, and electromagnetic surveys. All of which are essential for the purposes of understanding the subsurface. Injection information – the achieved injection rates, temperature and pressure conditions in the storage formation, and the resulting injection characteristics are important indicators for demonstrating store performance. Respondents are asked their views on each of these topics, and others, regarding the scope of the information which should be disclosed and on what timescales. Important for scientists to contribute alongside industry, to provide science-led perspectives. https://lnkd.in/ewpz6bCu

A very important consultation. Not least as data are vital to demonstrating the reliability and reproducibility of interpretations and predictions in subsurface projects.

I can only agree with this post and support it whole heartedly! I call out to all my connections to share/repost this message and show that you want to see this changed! I think the only institutions that benefit from this jungle of similar courses with different names is the institutions that provide the “exclusive” course. The differences are marginal, and it is the same institutions that provide the courses, so they know it. Why not do the same as what was done with Bosiet in the past? Long ago there were (marginal) differences between Nogepa/Opito/OLF, and after some time they managed to have it covered into 1 course which is called Bosiet and is accepted by all countries with Northsea borders. I suggest an independent person follows all the courses, sweeps them all up on one big heap, cuts the crap out, and limits it up to a maximum of 2-3 days and prolongates validity to 4 years. It will safe a lot of people a lot of money and a lot of frustration. Nice challenge for IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) and NedZero - Branchevereniging voor windenergie to make this happen?

Asking for #GWO course (again) This pic shows where the MMO's in a geophysical survey work when in a windfarm🌬 I totally understand that if you work on/around monopiles you are asked for it, but dear #HSE's do your job, investigate a bit and stop asking for an extra course when we are already required to have BOSIET and STCW courses. This is bad practice and absolute non-sense. If you think otherwise, I will be happy to listen to your reasons. Fugro vessel ready to be equipped with methanol engines The vessel was converted in the Netherlands as part of the Fugro-led Methanol as Energy Step Towards Emission-free Dutch Shipping (MENENS) consortium with a grant received at the end of 2021 from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The now-completed vessel adjustments to the Fugro Pioneer allow two of its four original engines to be replaced by methanol engines, ensuring services can still be offered in regions where green methanol is not yet available, Fugro said. The delivery and installation of the methanol-capable engines are expected in the second half of this year. “The methanol conversion of the Fugro Pioneer is not only a pivotal move in diminishing our vessel emissions as part of our Net Zero 2035 journey, but it also stimulates the green methanol market. We will continue to invest in innovative solutions that not only help our clients, but also support us in reaching our company objectives,” said Barbara Geelen, Fugro’s CFO. Fugro Pioneer’s next task includes performing a geophysical survey for the development of the Doordewind offshore wind zone in the Netherlands. https://bit.ly/3TRNdSz #methanol #alternativefuel #renewable #cleanfuel #futurefuel #energytransition #sustainable

A project that's now live, that will make a huge change to the UK energy supply. Power for the equivalent of 2.5 million homes. One of the schemes that inspired my move to National Grid and to be part of generational change. Sonar Vessel Noise Survey #NJ: Reports of recent whale and dolphin deaths on and near the New York and New Jersey shores, and public concerns of marine noise impacts from offshore wind development activities, prompted an investigation into the sonar noise levels produced by exploratory survey vessels working in ocean areas leased by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). This technical report presents the methodology, analysis and results of a brief independent investigation of underwater noise levels from a sonar survey vessel, conducted offshore . . .
