Jobs Around Thanksgiving Retail and Food Service Jobs: As Thanksgiving is a time of family gatherings and festive meals, it often involves an increase in the demand for food-related services. Supermarkets, restaurants, and catering services may see a boost in business, leading to temporary job openings. Many people also work as servers, chefs, or in retail sales, especially as Black Friday follows the holiday. Volunteer Work: Thanksgiving also creates opportunities for volunteerism. Many people choose to dedicate their time to helping those less fortunate by working at food banks, shelters, or community kitchens. Volunteers serve meals, organize donations, or help with fundraising efforts during this season of giving. Travel Industry Jobs: Thanksgiving is a major holiday for travel, with many people flying or driving to spend time with loved ones. This causes an uptick in demand for jobs in airlines, car rental companies, and transportation services. Additionally, hotels and motels also experience more business, leading to seasonal employment opportunities. Healthcare and Emergency Services: Not everyone has the day off. Healthcare workers, first responders, and those in emergency services may be required to work on Thanksgiving to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

Managing the logistics and volunteers for the 9/11 Day Meal Packing Event was no small feat, but incredibly rewarding! With over 1,000 volunteers, multiple shifts, and thousands of meals to pack, there were a lot of moving parts to ensure everything ran smoothly. #LogisticsManagement #VolunteerManagement #ServiceDay #911Day #TeamWork #LeadershipInAction

This is a point of discussion. Food supply at the grocery store and elsewhere. With regards to the situation in the emergency shelter is a great example, especially for children. They often stay too long and don’t receive any education and they sleep badly because there is so much noise and bad food. In a shelter somewhere in the Netherlands. Doctors who went to look there saw something. Children who eat too little due to all the stress and even become malnourished. Hundreds of children stay in such emergency shelters. How long they’ve been there? Sometimes days, sometimes months or even years. Filming inside such is not allowed but with permission from family, speaking outside the shelter with the children was permitted about what it’s like to live in The Netherlands. Nour says “it’s difficult here. The lights go out in the evening. There is a lot of noise here. The sirens every month warns us. I can hardly sleep here.” Zenal says “there is nothing to do here. It’s not nice here” Aisha says “we sleep in the cold. And the food is not tasty either” Well, it’s a shelter, better than sleeping outside. But I wonder if it’s a human right to occupy such a shelter for children. I’m mostly concerned about what children get to eat. Children come across Dutch food and children are not really used to that and then you see that the situation they are in, the tension, the stress, that they start eating what they know, and that is often very one-sided, that is often only rice and cookies. Khaled say “No, we do eat, but that is not really good” What the Dutch society is currently dealing with is sometimes spoiled milk in grocery stores. The food is not really tasty, not everyone knows the typical Dutch dishes like “stamppot”. Everyday it’s always the same food. The meat from the grocery store doesn’t taste good. We sometimes get strange food, for example, you have to cook and get your meat from a butcher and cook it with apricots. And so the children eat less. I eat less. According to the doctors that is not a disaster for consumption for a couple of days. But some of these children are not here for days as intended, but here for months or even years. I strongly wonder if we can place this group, the children, or if they can be placed in another place, for example in a normal asylum seekers center because the conditions are often better there and they are allowed to cook for themselves what they are easily capable of. The Dutch society is in madness and has to do something about the food supply for the children in shelters and all over the country, and people like us who adore meat. I also adore not to see spoiled milk in the regular grocery stores and food supply should somewhat improve even although it is crowded it must be done.

Is your kitchen feeling more crowded than a gourmet food market on a Saturday? Let's simplify! Start by rummaging through every cabinet, drawer, and pantry nook. Toss what's expired or broken, and bid farewell to the gadgets you haven't touched since last spring. Clear containers or chic baskets? That's your next move for a Pinterest-worthy pantry. And those extra six spatulas? It's time to donate, discard, or deal them away. Your reward: a kitchen that's as inviting as the aroma of fresh coffee on a Sunday morning. It's not just decluttering; it's reclaiming your space! #kitchenorganization #organizationtips #homeorganization #hometips #homeorganizationtips #kitchenorganizationtips #declutter #realestatebykristinew #drhorton

The line between having a charity and having a mission is an interesting one. This story is about a restaurant started by Michelin-star winning chef Adam Simmonds (who is also a recovering addict). The restaurant is staffed almost entirely by recently homeless people. The staff gets decent pay, training, and the ability to gain the skills to work in other high end restaurants. The food is gourmet, but the recipes are designed to be appropriate for the skill level of the staff. To me this says so much. Yes, it is important that a business make money. A business that is not profitable is a drain on all involved. But that does not mean profit has to be a business's sole reason for being. It is possible to do well by doing good. And organizations with a mission that benefits society do not have to be limited to being non-profit charities.

Are you hosting a holiday party this year? Here is a checklist to help you prepare your home for guests. Tackle these tasks a few days or weeks before the event to avoid last-minute stress. 🎊 Entryways are the first impression for guests. Make space in the coat closet or add an additional coat rack. 🎊. Living Rooms or Gathering Spaces are where guests will spend most of their time. Declutter items like extra pillows and blankets to make more seating. Have an extra phone charger on standby also. 🎊 Kitchens are often a hub during holiday gatherings. Empty the fridge and organize it for leftovers or holiday food. Keep an extra trash can nearby. 🎊 Guest bathrooms need to be restocked with hand soap, toilet paper, and fresh towels. Make sure there is a trash can large enough to handle the extra trash. If you need assistance getting organized, unpacking, or preparing for a move, book your FREE consultation today. #cleaning #time #management #holiday #getorganized #declutter #purge #donate #organizingpro #homeorganizer #houstonhomeorganizer #professionalorganizerhouston #hireaprofessionalorganizer #blackprofessionalorganizers #womenowned #NABPO #NAPO #Texas #harriscounty #montgomerycounty #galvestoncounty #iOrganize #YouMatter2Us #fyp

Week 1 of the summer holiday and I turned my attention from organising documents to organising my daughter's bedroom. I think she's inherited some of my organising skills. 😊 She had made labels for each of her piles of stuff 1️⃣ Want 2️⃣ Don't Want 3️⃣ Don't Want for Now (these are toys she might want to play with in the future and isn't ready to part yet but she doesn't want them easily accessible at the moment). From there the actions to take were easy: 1️⃣ Want - these were tidied away neatly 2️⃣ Don't Want - all went to the charity shop or were listed on Vinted - she even helped with the photo taking and pricing 3️⃣ Don't Want for Now - stored in boxes at the top of her cupboards so we can access them when needed I think she's already learning some key skills that would be useful in the work environment: 💡 reviewing your content regularly 💡 make changes as needed 💡 keep things ordered and easy to access 💡 know the value of your product/service She was so much happier with her tidy bedroom too - more room for the important job of playing 😊 If you need help keeping your admin organised then get in touch and we can have a chat about how I can help you. Maybe my daughter and I should start a bedroom tidying service too 🤔 😂

Since its humble beginnings 10 years ago, Hope For Food, an Access to Food partner, has grown to provide a host of food services alongside additional support for the homeless and those experiencing poverty. So, what’s the secret to its success? Mary Duncan, Operations Manager explains. “When we started, we were keen to support as many people as possible by providing a wide range of services. However, as Hope for Food is run entirely by volunteers, our resources became stretched so it was decided to focus on what we were good at – offering food and essentials to those in need rather than large household goods and furnishings. We want to provide on-the-ground support. “The service just wouldn’t be able to function without the help from our wonderful team of volunteers. They come from all walks of life - for example, we have plumber, a builder, a graphic designer and a communications manager who all give up their time after work. We also have a retired financial advisor and teacher. “This pool of people has a wealth of local contacts, enabling us to link in with businesses and get the word out. Through these connections we are thankful to receive donations of fresh and sliced meat, fruit and veg, eggs, biscuits, chocolates, toiletries and cleaning supplies. At Christmas, one of our busiest periods, we also open our doors to corporate volunteers who help us to assemble and send out over 300 Christmas parcels. “We work hard to promote Hope for Food as we are an independent, local charity. We are active on social media and are lucky to have a small team of communications volunteers who help to drive our campaigns and regularly post content. It’s really important to publicly thank donations as this might lead to more! “We want people in the local community to recognise Hope for Food and its work, so I regularly go out to meet with various businesses, community, and church groups to talk about what we do and rally support. “We’ve recently redesigned our website to make it clearer for visitors to see the depth and breadth of our work – to show we aren’t only a food bank and offer a range of support services. A regular blog helps to highlight what we are up to, and we also create and share downloadable template posters and material to make it easier for people to fundraise. “We are truly blessed to have a team of people who have a variety of talents and connections, and we use it to our advantage. We are also not afraid to ask for help and rarely pass up on anything offered!” To find out more about Hope for Food visit their website: www.hopeforfood.org.uk Dorset Chamber BCP Council Bournemouth Daily Echo #bournemouth #poole #christchurchdorset #accesstofood #foodsupport

Your organization can make a meaningful difference today fighting hunger in our community. You may have seen The Ottawa Mission's food trucks in neighborhoods like Westboro, Carlington, and Little Italy, bringing vital support far beyond our downtown shelter. These trucks aren’t just about meals—they’re about hope. With grocery prices soaring by 22% and rent increasing 20% since 2020, many people in our city are being forced to make the impossible choice between shelter and food. The Ottawa Mission’s food truck program is helping to ease that burden, serving thousands of meals weekly in 38 underserved communities across Ottawa. One grateful food truck client shared, “The price of everything is going up. I’m 70 and retired...I need these meals to get by.” Your support today can directly impact the neighborhoods where your employees and clients live, work, and thrive. By partnering with The Ottawa Mission, you’re not just providing meals—you’re investing in the well-being of our community. Learn more about how your organization can get involved. Together, we can nourish our city. #CorporateResponsibility #OttawaCommunity #SupportLocal #TheOttawaMission #MoreThanAShelter
