If I were hired as a beauty retail leadership position , my first 30 days would focus on three key areas:
Team Engagement: I would prioritize building relationships with my team through one-on-one meetings and team huddles. Understanding their strengths and challenges is crucial for fostering a positive work environment.
Customer Insights: I would spend time on the sales floor, observing customer interactions and gathering feedback. This hands-on approach will help us identify opportunities for improvement and enhance the customer experience.
Operational Review: I would assess current processes and performance metrics. By identifying quick wins and areas for optimization, we can create a roadmap for sustainable growth.
I believe that success in retail starts with a strong team, satisfied customers, and efficient operations. Excited to make an impact with new opportunities! #OpenToWork#HireMe#RetailMgmt#PassionForBeauty
I wholeheartedly agree . The composition of winning teams must encompass the diversity that mirrors both our workforce and customer base. In fact, diversity is an indispensable catalyst for success across all industries. While it is undeniably crucial for hiring managers to select the most qualified candidate, it is equally imperative for managers to bridge any gaps and construct winning teams that authentically represent the cultural diversity inherent in our workforce, our customers, and the global community. Consequently, it is imperative that we, as a part of the minority workforce are afforded the same opportunities as our non-minority counterparts. We deserve to be regarded as equally esteemed partners and positioned in roles that amplify our skills, thereby opening doors to a multitude of opportunities.

This post may make some uncomfortable, and I am 100% ok with that because with discomfort comes the opportunity for growth.
When I was an NFL cheerleader we had a interesting approach to auditions…(don’t leave me hanging post in the comments if you’ve experienced what I’m sharing 💋).
This is what it was: our teams were strategically chosen to represent our customer. Meaning diversity was valued…we wanted the best of the best balanced with true representative of our city. You needed to be charismatic and talented and smart and an amazing performer, but the judges understood the assignment - we needed the best and most representative performers available.
Having said that and comparing that experience with my recent engaged with numerous Hiring Managers and Executives in the Aesthetic sales space, (encompassing everything from device and skincare companies), I am a little *deep sigh* disappointed with our industry. I am so grateful for my VP that hired me as a Regional manager at my former company. We had a strong sales leadership team and our diverse perspectives fostered significant growth sometimes with just our will, our teams and duct tape!
Reflecting on the industry's landscape, it's evident that the lack of diversity, starting with field sales and first-line managers, persists as a critical issue.
The belief that diversity is a mere "soft" benefit or social activism undermines its profitability and operational efficiency.
The homogeneity among Executives not only hinders profit maximization but also signals potential implicit biases that could be detrimental to financial success and customer resonance in the evolving aesthetic/beauty sector.
I have almost a decade of experience as a Hiring manager in more than 1 industry. One way that I’ve built high performing teams is when I am hiring I’m not just hiring for a role or a territory. I’m hiring for missing links on the team.
During college I had the chance to work in competitive sports. (Thank you CBS sports).
Winning teams recruit and draft what they are missing not just more of what they have…it’s part of a winning formula.

How an experienced Retail Manager would make for a great Retail Senior Vice President.
A retail manager with over 25 years of experience in the retail industry would make a great senior level VP due to having extensive hands-on knowledge and deep understanding of store-level operations, which provides a solid foundation for strategic decision-making and leadership at the executive level. A proven track record of managing significant revenue streams and leading large, high-performing teams demonstrates the capability to drive business growth and operational excellence. With firsthand experience navigating the evolving retail landscape, particularly post-COVID, one possess unique insights into market trends, customer behavior, and industry shifts.
Being an expertise in inventory management, visual merchandising, KPI-driven performance, and new store openings speicalist equips one with the skills necessary to innovate and implement effective strategies across multiple stores, ensuring the organization remains competitive and successful. This combination of ground-level experience and strategic vision makes one exceptionally well-suited to excel as a Retail Senior Vice President.

Helping Retail & Wholesale Companies in the Agricultural Home & Farm Supply Sector Recruit Top-Tier Store Management, Supply Chain & E-commerce Talent to Drive Market Expansion and Operational Success.
From Candidate to Client: How Unexpected Turns Shape Success
I just had a conversation with a client I've known since I began recruiting nearly 20 years ago. I first cold-called his store back in October 2005 when he was a Store Manager for an outdoorsmen retailer, fresh out of college with a major in Biology.
At the time, he had worked part-time as an associate while in college and full-time during school breaks. When graduation came, senior leadership noticed him and offered him a Store Manager position. He accepted it as a temporary solution while he sought opportunities aligned with his education.
Fast forward nearly 20 years, and he's now the SVP of Stores for that same company! He's played a key role in breaking into new markets and expanding the company's footprint.
So, while I didn't manage to recruit him back then, we've remained connected. We've referred talent, shared market insights, and partnered on filling crucial positions.
You never know where that one call might lead. Even if someone isn’t the right fit for a position or isn’t using outside search services at the time, you can still find and add value.
⭐ Thank you for your continued partnership.⭐

Opening a new store?
I’ve opened several new stores and it was always tough determining the correct roster. No matter the projected budget, research on the area, client behavior or ecomm sales, the census always changed.
I needed to hire more or reduce hours and eliminate certain roles based on traffic/sales.
What if you could use Reflex to help shape your roster correctly? Reflex could not only help with the new store opening, but help to shape the right census. Think about avoiding overspending with overhiring and not enough sales/ traffic in the beginning. You can also quickly get the support if you under hired or struggling to fill roles with experienced retail associates that get brand specific training consistently.
This would have helped me so much as I look at this photo when I first opened a new store in a new market.
