Pride Month Is Over OR for the rest of the year: We can vote in every election available to us. We can keep discussions going about laws that provide and preserve human rights for all. We can stay mindful of our words around those who might still be figuring out who they are. We can provide a safe space for questions, stories, and people who want to come out to us. We can speak up when we hear overt or covert anti-LGBTQIA+ comments. We can ask for change when we notice anything that is not inclusive. We can study and learn from experts and listen to and read stories of lived experience. We can speak words of love, care, acceptance, and support. We can be open, curious, and seek understanding without placing the burden of our ignorance on LGBTQIA+ people. We can …? #pride2024 #lgbtiqa+ #allyship #integrity #dei #loveislove

New Substack Post Two For One: Oppression, Grievance, and It's Price Eight: Chapters 7 and 8 of Frank Bruni’s Age of Grievances As Bruni notes about our grievances: “Our grievances, unchecked, aren’t just ugly. They’re deadly” (120). Grievance is paralyzing our entire nation from the individual all the way up to the federal government. It makes us petty; it makes us juvenile. It turns adults into toddlers. That is what grievance does. It renders real and important topics – LGBTQ+ rights, racism, white supremacy, bigotry, you name it – repetitive and less meaningful. It takes every piece of optimism and makes it pessimistic and poisonous. It makes every valiant cause a cynical exercise. It undermines everything.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲! “It is through countless acts of courage and conviction that human history is forged.” –Robert F. Kennedy Imagine being barred from playing a sport, attending a dance, or securing a job simply because of your appearance or beliefs. Would you accept such discrimination, or would you fight against it? Too often, we hesitate to defend others facing discrimination based on gender, age, color, caste, religion, or socio-economic status. Despite our innate sense of justice and empathy, we frequently dismiss these feelings, thinking it's not our concern. However, true change happens when we unite, empathize with others' suffering, and speak out against injustice. Stand firmly for justice. Whether it's discrimination against women, LGBTQIA+ rights, people with disabilities, or any form of injustice against humanity, take a stand. Silence and inaction perpetuate oppression. Speak out, fight back, and demand equality. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Make your voice heard and be a force for change. Did you know? There are over 1.6 million trans, non-binary, and gender-expansive individuals across the United States. They're parents, coworkers, neighbors, and friends. They come from diverse racial, ethnic, and faith backgrounds. Despite progress, they still face challenges. Extremist legislators are pushing hateful agendas, and fatal violence, especially against Black and Brown trans women, persists. Today, let's celebrate and uplift all trans and non-binary individuals. Let's fight against discrimination, disinformation, and hate. Together, we can create a world where everyone is accepted and celebrated for who they are. https://lnkd.in/gyRq7tXD #TransRightsAreHumanRights #LGBTQ+ #Equality 🏳️🌈

“LBTQI activists are changing the world. The work they do confronts the realities of violence and exclusion experienced by LBTQI people, in social attitudes, in institutions, in laws and policies, and in families and relationships.” “Moreover, their activism often sits at the intersections of sexuality, disability rights, economic and environmental justice, Indigenous rights, black consciousness, anti-racism and more. That’s why donors need to look beyond the limiting borders of funding programmes to meet the needs and priorities of LBTQI groups and fund their innovative work.” “If we want to see LBQTI groups not only hold the line against the rising tide of anti-rights politics, but also advance a radical politics of liberation, then we need to give them more and better resources to work with. #MamaCash #IntersectionalPride #LBTQIRights #Pridemonth

In times of turmoil, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters—human dignity and rights. While profit may drive growth, true progress lies in upholding the values of compassion, empathy, and justice. As the world grapples with political tensions and conflicts, it's more important than ever to stand firm in defense of human rights. Every individual deserves to live free from fear, oppression, and discrimination, regardless of nationality, race, or belief. Let's reject narratives that seek to undermine human rights in the pursuit of power or profit. Instead, let's come together in solidarity to support those who are most vulnerable and advocate for a future where everyone can thrive in peace and dignity. At Q2-Computing, we believe in using technology and innovation to build a more just and equitable world. Join us in promoting respect for human rights, both locally and globally. Together, we can make a difference. #StandWithUkraine #HumanRights #AWomansChoice #LGBTQA #NeuroDivergent #Justice #Equality #Compassion #Empathy

Author: Until You Walk in My Shoes: A Reframing Methodology to Overcome Systemic Discrimination, Originator of the Equity, Inclusion, and Individual Engagement Principle, Former Pharmaceutical Executive, Board Member
‘A rose by any other name would smell as sweet’. William Shakespeare Similarly, discrimination by any other name would wreak as odious. In 2020, I suggested that we focus on the core issues in our society. These are Equity and Inclusion, not because they were morally important, but because they are necessary for the health and survival of humanity. They both foster Individual Engagement which is critical for productivity and success of every organization, starting with the family. And in each individual, we find the Diversity that fuels innovation-new ideas, new ways to live and learn, and new ways to solve problems. I suggested we focus on Equity, Inclusion, and Individual Engagement -EIIE. The alliteration in EIIE was an interesting and unplanned result in the name. Although the ‘D’ in DEI was an easy way to identify the largest groups of individuals against whom discrimination was being practiced, it simultaneously made them a target. In fact, Bill Ackman, in his 4000-word essay against DEI, identified the ‘oppressed’ group that DEI was seeking to help as ‘a subset of people of color, LGBTQ people and/or women’. It potentially left unrecognized other groups that are suffering attacks of discrimination, such as older individuals and others of other than Christian religious persuasion. Today, we hear and see the many species of discrimination in full bloom. Finally, it fails to recognize that all of us, including those who rail against Diversity, are the products of Diversity, as I described in my most recent post on LinkedIn (January 14, 2024). ‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that’. Martin Luther King Jr. #DEI #Equity and Inclusion #Diversity #EIIE #Dr. Reframe #NAN #CIC

❤️Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) - a day dedicated to raising the awareness and calling out the discrimination and violence that is still plaguing the entire LGBTQ+ community globally. 🧡IDAHOBIT traces its roots back to 17 May 1990, when the World Health Organization (WHO) declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. 💛While progress has been made, there are still 62 United Nations member states that criminalise consensual same-sex relations, and at least 59 countries have restrictions on freedom of expression related to sexual and gender diversity issues. 💚The past two years have seen an increase in anti-trans legislation and further vilification of the trans community. 💙This year's theme is: "No one left behind: equality, freedom and justice for all" — it's a call for unity to creat a world where NO ONE is left behind. 💜How will you recognise and activate this year's IDAHOBIT mission? #IDAHOBIT #IDAHOBIT2024 #LGBTQrights
