Now that we have your attention, let's talk sun safety now that summer is knocking on the door. With over 5 million cases treated each year, it's crucial to protect your skin from harmful UV rays 🌞 So how do you protect yourself? Seek Shade 🌳 - Whenever possible, stay in the shade, especially during midday hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), when the UV rays are strongest. Wear Protective Clothing 👕🧢 - Long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and skirts provide the best protection. Clothes made from tightly woven fabric offer more protection than loosely woven fabrics. - A wide-brimmed hat can protect your face, ears, and neck. - Sunglasses that block both UVA and UVB rays are best. Wrap-around styles can provide additional protection for your eyes and the skin around them. Apply Sunscreen 🧴 - Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. Use a water-resistant, broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher for extended outdoor activity. - Apply sunscreen generously 30 minutes before going outdoors. Don’t forget to cover all exposed skin, including your ears, neck, and the tops of your feet. - Reapply sunscreen at least every two hours, and more often if you're swimming, sweating, or toweling off. Be Extra Cautious Near Water, Snow, and Sand 🌊❄️🏖️ - These surfaces can reflect and intensify UV rays, increasing your chances of sunburn. Stay safe and sun smart! ☀️🧴🕶️ #SLCo #SunSafety
