That is the question our newest Greg and Camille Baroni Center for Government Contracting #whitepaper, "PPBE Impact on Technology Transition," analyzes. With findings and recommendations from six case studies conducted as part of a report prepared for the PPBE Reform Commission, we explore the impact #PPBE has on defense programs adopting new technologies and provide recommendations to streamline and improve the process. 🔍 Key Findings: Successes: Technology adoption programs thrive when they are championed by senior leaders, see informed Congressional engagement, and embrace coordination and innovative practices. d'Amico Group attended the inaugural CII Conference at the International Maritime Organization headquarters, hosted by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, marking one year since its implementation. d'Amico Group actively participated as a speaker, sharing insights into the owner's experience regarding #CII challenges and opportunities for improvement. Our Technical Director, CESARE D'API', who was also a conference speaker, submitted a paper titled "Discovering CII Behavior" to RINA in support of the presentation. "We provided concrete examples of the rating system's application from various perspectives, including ship size, operational profile, sister vessels, time in port/waiting time, use of biofuels blends, and technical retrofits, engaging with representatives from the IMO and the #maritimeindustry. Transforming complex challenges into actionable solutions is at the heart of great planning. The USAG Benelux Installation Development Plan (IDP) is a prime example, recently honored with the American Planning Association’s Outstanding Federal Planning Program Citation Award. Spanning 20 sites across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, the IDP supports over 10,000 military personnel, families, and civilians by integrating mission readiness, cultural preservation, and quality of life improvements. With a data-driven approach that included virtual interviews, on-site assessments, and participatory workshops, the plan provides a clear, long-range strategy. Over 300 projects were identified and prioritized in an Integrated Project List (IPL) that ties funding streams to critical infrastructure needs. What sets this plan apart is its innovative handling of geographically dispersed sites, addressing logistical challenges while also focusing on sustainability. Solar power integration, energy-efficient building systems, and Low Impact Development strategies align with stringent local energy codes, meeting high environmental standards. The IDP also creates walkable, pedestrian-friendly environments with reduced car traffic, enhancing safety and accessibility across the Garrison. This award-winning plan is not just a framework for development; it’s a replicable model for how thoughtful, inclusive planning can drive meaningful change. Interesting read as we encounter the recent inflationary pressures on our projects. Companies need to consider their flexibility and adaptability to take on more efficient means of delivery through innovation and upskilling. As a design consultant, one area of our focus is on the implementation of Digital Delivery and BIM, and its application in practice. We’re generally driven by client requirements which can be considered archaic at times and if we’re delivering in “design silos” without any thought of the downstream supply chain, how can we unlock the roll on efficiencies that we seek?
