Is planned obsolescence ethical? I've been using Huawei's flagship phone mate series since 2017 and it's going strong. Simply by replacing the battery, then all is well now. What's interesting; the previous OEM battery brand with "European made cell" (on picture; red labels) only lasted 2 months compared to "Indonesian assembled" battery that can lasts more than 2 years! In my opinion, the planned obsolescence on today's electronic industry, can deliver economic advantages. However such product with shorter life cycle may creates a significant hurdle in the path towards environmental sustainability. Kudos to #huawei for being consistent in supporting with software updates and allowed their battery platform to be copied by 3rd party!

Samsung is reportedly planning to renegotiate NAND prices with its major mobile, PC, and server customers in March or April 2024, with a rumored increase of 15-20%. Samsung, SK Hynix, and other memory makers have not yet completed price negotiations with customers for Q1 of 2024. As the overall NAND price continues to rise, major customers are securing purchasing volume to maintain the trend of production reduction in the NAND industry.
