Of all the displays at CES 2024, screens were king. Companies like Samsung showcased not only the next generation of screen sizes, but new ways for screens to be used in homes and businesses. By far the most interesting new screens were the transparent TVs showcased by LG and Samsung. Both displays allow viewers to see through them, meaning there is zero obstruction of whatever is displayed behind them. The benefits of advertising with these are endless, especially retail advertising. Storefronts could now be used to advertise sales or new products in new and creative ways that interact with their surroundings, without blocking product displays.

My 2 cents on the Samsung 'anti-anti-Apple' iPad ad. First of all, why 'anti-anti-Apple' ad? Apple came up with an ad that goes against their why: "To inspire and promote creativity." That's why I called it an anti-Apple ad. About a week after the iPad ad's release, Samsung has come up with an 'anti-anti-Apple' ad. Some people are impressed by the speed of response. But maybe Samsung should have stayed silent? I feel this ad only highlights the lack of a strong 'why' from the brand. What do they stand for? As someone working in advertising/marketing, I genuinely can't tell you. Is it offering Apple-like products at a cheaper price? That's a bit of a thin 'why' (reference to the iPad ad intended). Creativity has never been part of their core DNA... why talk about it now? A strong 'why' means being in favour of something, not against something else. Lastly, many found the latest iPad ad tasteless. I think Samsung's 'Uncrush' feels even less elegant. It's easy to crush your competitors when they're on the floor... even if your ad is called 'uncrush'. Could have they come up with something more constructive and 'creative'? Maybe an ad to encourage Apple to go back to the good old times when they were an inspiration for everyone... including Samsung itself? Because, let's face it... many Samsung products wouldn't be the way they are today if Apple had never existed. https://lnkd.in/geDd4HpF
