Hurricane Helene made history as the first Category 4 hurricane to hit Big Bend, Florida and is one of the biggest storms the Gulf of Mexico has seen in the last century. The new State of San Diego Latinos Report, developed with the San Diego Regional Policy & Innovation Center, reveals that the media income of San Diego Latinos is $39,000, about $28,000 less per year than White, non-Latino San Diegans. With Latinos representing 35% of San Diego County’s population, this community faces significant economic challenges due to systemic barriers, socio-economic disparities and unique community needs. Building trust and providing culturally competent, Spanish-language services are essential to breaking these barriers.
