Over time, notable events, contributions, and experiences of African Americans were nearly forgotten due to a tendency to omit these stories from U.S. history textbooks and curriculum taught in schools. Today, Juneteenth is a symbol of the ongoing fight for equality and justice. It is imperative that the stories of Black Americans be acknowledged, preserved, and celebrated at the level of validity that they deserve. ❓ Why February? Unveiling Black History Month's Significance: Black History Month's choice of February is deeply rooted in honoring the profound impact of African Americans on the nation's history. Initiated by Carter G. Woodson in 1926, February was selected for its significance to the Black community, marking a period for reflection and celebration of Black excellence and resilience. Woodson, a Harvard-educated historian, was inspired to promote the study and recognition of African American achievements after witnessing the lack of representation in history. This was a step towards highlighting the indispensable role of Black Americans in shaping the nation. As we observe #BlackHistoryMonth, it's a call to honor the legacy and achievements of Black individuals across all aspects of society. #blackexcellence #historymatters #blackhistory #didyouknow

On this first day of Black History Month, we celebrate the history and heritage of African Americans more fiercely than ever before! Despite an unfortunate contingency of individuals and organizations who seek to erase Black History from traditional education, we stand proud and recognize the innumerable contributions of African Americans not just to Black History, but to American History. Let us take this month to honor and learn from the past while also looking towards the future. #CelebrateBlackHistory #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistoryEveryDay #24x7

This February, let's unite in honoring the profound impact of African Americans on our nation's fabric. Beyond remembrance, Black History Month is a celebration of resilience, innovation, and an unyielding spirit that defines our shared history. This year's theme, "African Americans and the Arts," shines a light on their impactful contributions to visual arts, music, cultural movements, and more. Today, we pay homage not only to the pioneers in the arts but also to those who moved the civil rights movement forward through their artistic expressions. Over the course of the month, we will be sharing content that revolves around this year's theme, focusing specifically on the contributions and achievements of Black artists. Let's celebrate the vibrant creativity that has not only enriched our culture but played a pivotal role in advancing civil rights.
