social impact leader | systems thinker | civic collaborator | creative problem-solver | change agent | building communities that work for all
Love the commitment to action. First: listen to the perspectives and experiences of the people you’re designing for. Next: commit real resources to test those ideas. Future: scale up what works.
High impact collaborative executive public sector leader with proven track record of leading large scale change within complex systems in collaboration with our community partners and residents.
Amazing things start to happen when young people voices and needs are centered in creating programs that are aimed at supporting them. Kudos to ECMC Group, GREATER MSP Partnership and others for creating a space to hear youth and then taking ideas to action. This Co-Lab is one of the strategies that is being tested. I am grateful to serve as an advisor to the work and increase connections in our community. And I am thrilled that City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County is home to this pilot!

Ahead of today’s release of Embrace Boston's 2024 Harm Report, Boston Globe Media's Tiana W. spoke with our clients - including Embrace Boston's Imari Paris Jeffries, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center's Greg Wilmot, and Children's Services of Roxbury, Inc.'s Sandra McCroom - to learn more. The report, which provides an overview of the city and state policies and practices that have historically disadvantaged Black residents of Boston and Massachusetts, serves as an ever-important reminder that while strides have been made, there is still much work to be done to create a Boston that is full of love and inclusivity. “This report hopefully puts blame not on people, but instead on processes,” Imari Paris Jeffries, President and CEO of Embrace Boston, told Tiana Woodard. “If we’ve created these processes, we can uncreate them.” Read more in The Boston Globe: https://lnkd.in/dX-34DEr

April is #SecondChanceMonth! At DFSS, we firmly believe in the transformative power of second chances. We recognize that individuals transitioning back into the community deserve not just one opportunity, but the chance to rebuild their lives and thrive. That's why DFSS is committed to funding a variety of programs and initiatives tailored to meet the unique needs of returning residents and those impacted by the justice system. Among these essential programs are our Community Reentry Support Centers, which provide vital support and resources to individuals navigating the challenges of reintegration. With approximately 11,000 individuals reentering the city of Chicago every year, the significance of our work cannot be overstated. As we embark on Second Chance Month, let's come together to acknowledge the immense potential for positive change when individuals are provided with opportunities and support. Remember, behind every success story is someone who believed in offering a chance for redemption and growth. #ReentryMatters #SecondChanceMonth2024 #DFSS #Chicago #SecondChances #CommunitySupport #TransformingLives #DFSSImpact

**GIA READER** Grantmakers in the Arts (GIA) has been advocating for policies that increase the amount of assets that people with disabilities can hold while remaining eligible for public benefits because artists with disabilities – indeed, all workers – deserve to get paid for their work and to build savings, even when circumstances – like a disability – prevent them from working a conventional fixed role or schedule. That is why GIA is supporting Sen. Chris Coons’ (D-DE) Allowing Steady Savings by Eliminating Tests Act (the ASSET Act). The ASSET Act seeks to raise the SSI asset limit, recognizing the importance of enabling individuals with disabilities to achieve financial security. America is more divided than ever in our history. Amidst the coming 4th of July parades, and celebrations, let's remember what unites us. Despite our differences on how we make these happen or if we believe they are happening, regardless of political affiliations, and backgrounds, we hopefully agree on what we stand for: Commitment to Freedom, Justice, and Representation: We all cherish the principles of freedom, justice, and the right to have a voice in our government. Our system is a testament to the collective will of the people, thriving on diverse perspectives and robust debate. Patriotism: Patriotism is a shared love for our country. Whether we express it through service, civic engagement, or simply flying the American flag, our patriotism unites us. Support for the Constitution: The U.S. Constitution is the cornerstone of our nation's governance. It guarantees our rights and freedoms and establishes the rule of law. Our commitment to the Constitution reminds us that we are all part of a larger narrative—one that champions liberty and justice for all. Economic Prosperity: We all aspire to achieve economic prosperity, to provide for our families, and to build a better future. We all want a prosperous, thriving nation where opportunity is accessible to everyone. This shared ambition is the American Dream. National Security: Ensuring the safety and security of our nation is a priority we all share. From supporting our troops to safeguarding our communities, we stand united in our commitment to protect our homeland. Healthcare Improvement: We recognize the importance of healthcare and strive to improve it for all Americans. Our shared goal is a healthier nation, where everyone has access to the care they need. This common pursuit is a testament to our collective compassion and dedication to our well-being. Education: Education is a fundamental value that we all support. We understand the power of knowledge and the importance of providing quality education to future generations. We are united in our belief that education is the key to a brighter future for all. Support for Veterans: Our veterans have sacrificed so much for our freedom. Supporting them is a duty we all embrace, ensuring they receive the benefits and care they deserve. This shared commitment reflects our gratitude and respect for those who have served our country. Infrastructure Development: We recognize the necessity of investing in and maintaining our infrastructure. From roads and bridges to public transportation, these investments are crucial for our nation's growth and prosperity. Civil Liberties: We value civil liberties and individual freedoms, principles that define our nation. Our commitment to these rights is unwavering, even as we navigate the complexities of ensuring they are upheld for everyone. Happy Independence Day! As the USA come together to celebrate Independence Day, let's embrace the SPIRIT OF UNITY, understanding, and mutual respect.
