Quick… another way the new racism functions. You know, when the system responds to wrongdoing and percieved wrongdoing by racialized people rapidly but take FOREVER to respond to wrongdoing and oercieved wrongdoing done by White people. Example?: https://lnkd.in/e-TG6mn5

Black co-operative efforts have undergirded the fight for freedom and economic stability over the course of American history. As Black Americans faced exclusion and segregation from institutions and the general consumer market, several co-operative models were created to provide services in need. Grocery stores, gas stations, health insurance, worker co-ops, affordable housing, collective farming, and credit associations are all common types of co-operatives that arose in response to the economic and social needs of the Black community. Today, Black-led financial institutions continue the legacy and essence of these efforts. #BlackHistoryMonth #mdi #cdfis Read more here:https://shorturl.at/mpFH4

Some funders are looking into the sources of their wealth, which can often be traced back to historical injustices & exploitation. Some which helped create the very problems philanthropy now seeks to solve. In 2020, Corra made a commitment to become an anti-racist organisation. Since then, we’ve been taking steps to understand and act to bring about racial equity. Most importantly we continue to listen and learn from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic colleagues & communities we work alongside in Scotland. Read more about our work here: https://lnkd.in/eiuFR97n Part of this has been looking into the roots of Corra's wealth. Corra commissioned an independent report in 2023 authored by @DrStephenMullen examining the links to historical Atlantic slavery, the British Empire and colonialism of the banking sector & Scottish institutions. The report has shown that Corra has a connection to historical Atlantic slavery. Not directly but via the banking sector from which Corra emerged. Without the economy generated by Atlantic slavery, the banking institutions would not have existed in their modern form and scale. We acknowledge this historical exploitation and injustice, and how Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic communities in Scotland are still affected today as a result. This reaffirms the need for greater action in Scotland in addressing the past and where this report plays a small part. We will continue to consider the findings of this review and welcome any further conversations or reflections. Black Communities Taken for a Ride: The Exploitation Needs to Stop It’s time to call it what it is: straight Black exploitation. For too long, Black neighborhoods have been targeted by white-led profiteers who swoop in, extract wealth, and give nothing back. These companies see us as dollar signs, not as human beings, and they are more than happy to take advantage of our communities while living comfortably in the suburbs, far removed from the struggles we face every day. I’ve experienced this firsthand—when I, Donald, was attacked by the same white-led profiteers who pretend to care about our neighborhoods but are only in it for the profit. They come into our communities, exploit our needs, and leave us with nothing but empty promises. This isn’t just business—it’s a deliberate strategy to keep us down, to keep Black people on the margins while they rake in the profits. They target our neighborhoods because they know they can get away with it. But we’re not going to stay silent. We’re not going to let them continue to exploit our communities without a fight. We must stand together and push back against this exploitation. It’s time to support Black-owned businesses, uplift our own communities, and hold these profiteers accountable for their actions. We deserve better. We deserve to be seen, heard, and respected—not taken for a ride. #EndExploitation #SupportBlackCommunities #BlackLivesMatter #StopTheProfiteers #RacismIsReal #Equality #Justice #SocialJustice #HumanRights #SpeakUp #TogetherForJustice #EqualOpportunity #HumanRightsForAll #Div #FoodForFree #Freeman #GBFB #EconomicEquality #StopExploitation #BlackVoicesMatter #CommunityOverProfit #SocialJustice #BlackEmpowerment #EquityForAll #money #hancock #big #business #sound #government #even #redlight #greenlight #JBS #GlobalMeatLeader #MeatProcessing #FarmFresh #JBSFoods #Danone #HealthyLiving #DanoneProducts #BetterForYou #NestleProducts #NestleCares #FoodInnovation #PepsiCo #SnackAndBeverage #PepsiCoBrands #PepsiLove #SnackSmart #blackexcellence #inclusion #diversity #equality #KnowYourRights #history #Foodie #wakeupworld #wakeuphumanity #EndSystemicRacism #EndPoliceBrutality #EndGunViolence #StandUpAgainstRacism #kamalaharris #civilrights #yours #love #away #dei #HungerActionMonth #EndHungerHere #FeedingAmerica #FoodBankPartners #MassachusettsStrong #EndHunger #FightHunger #FoodInsecurity #ZeroHunger #HungerFree #BlackInTheIvory #RacialEquity #AmplifyMelanatedVoices #DigitalMarketing #Roxbury #Mattapan #Dorchester #Columbiaroad #Tremontstreet #JFK #MLK #Johnson #Kraft #Perdue #Synchoricity #Wrigcoll #Enterprise #Gold #Silver #Down #Dont #Encore #Wholefoods #Traderjoe #Shaws #Marketbasket #Opendoor #Biogen #MIT #Newton #Allston #Letdown #Car #Likes #Hashstag #Girls #events #Rights #Jokers

This is an incredibly important report, as the far right has resorted to the tactic of acknowledging racism as "WOKE", quite possibly....however, with the demonisation of the term it diminishes the accountability. We are responsible for protecting our children and racism in the United Kingdom hasn't gone anywhere. We must be bold in the face of false diversity, because the far right has also recognised that utilising ruthlessly ambitious Africans & African-Caribbeans as emotional butlers to man the front lines when they violate us as a useful tactic. Power isn't numeric, it's centralised and diversity doesn't serve Africans or African-Caribbeans when the candidates chosen look like Nana Akua, who is happy to swear an oath in service of her King. We must be aligned by necessity and remain pragmatic and unemotional in our approach when representing our children, no matter how triggering racism is towards them. I say this as a father who removed his seven year old son from school to home school because of this specific issue. 10 years later I feel fully vindicated in our position to do so (following the proper channels of downloading the statutory online release form and following local authority protocol). Our inalienable rights remain exactly that when we defend them. 🙏🏿

‘Why is racism a vital safeguarding issue for our young people?’….It's not just about embracing diversity or checking boxes—it's about safeguarding the well-being and future of our children. When young people face racism, it goes beyond hurt feelings; it undermines their sense of self-worth, chips away at their confidence, and can even lead to serious mental health struggles. But it doesn't stop there. A lack of understanding and resource disparities further exacerbate the issue, leaving marginalised youth feeling unsupported and disenfranchised. By recognising and addressing racism as a safeguarding concern, we're not just talking about fairness; we're talking about creating a level playing field where every child has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background.

On May 25, 2020, the nation was shaken to its core by the brutal murder of George Floyd, a stark reminder of the deep-seated racism that continues to plague our society. Amid the chaos and pain of the COVID-19 pandemic, essential workers like myself, Donald Collins, were tirelessly helping our communities navigate these unprecedented challenges. Yet, even in our most vulnerable moments, racism reared its ugly head. I was appalled to encounter such blatant discrimination within the nonprofit sector, where I had dedicated so much of my life. The president of a white-led nonprofit, Don Cox, openly targeted me, treating me as if I was stealing from him simply because of my race. This pattern of racism was not isolated to one individual or organization. At the Seafood Expo North America (SENA) 2024, Brian from the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) wielded his white-led authority to forcibly remove me and my team from the event, declaring, "I want them (Blacks) out." His actions were a disturbing display of power meant to belittle and undermine our efforts. The complicity didn't stop there. Freeman and Diversified Communications joined in on the discriminatory treatment, reinforcing the racist behavior flamed by Brian from GBFB. It is shocking and disheartening to see organizations with immense resources—worth millions of dollars—retaliate against a Black-led nonprofit like Wrigcoll Enterprise Inc., particularly when I have a history of contributing significantly to the community, including five years of service with Food For Free. This story should shock and appall corporate executives and the general public alike. The privileges of whiteness continue to overshadow the insidious racism that still exists, even within organizations purportedly dedicated to serving the public good. It is imperative that we confront and challenge these injustices head-on, ensuring that no one is subjected to such degrading treatment based on the color of their skin. My experience is not just a personal grievance but a call to action for systemic change in how we address and eradicate racism within all sectors of society. #NoMoreRacism #SocialJustice #StandAgainstRacism #Freeman #DIV #FoodForFree #GBFB
