Yesterday I attended the A-Grid Job Fair and Ecosystem Expo hosted by Aalto Startup Center, and I would have never imagined to meet so many diverse, talented and unique individuals in just 4 hours. From finance to AI, software development, aviation, physics, medicine, communications, and even wellness coaching — I engaged in quick chats with people from various backgrounds, and noticed 1 thing they had in common. A GOAL and an unwavering COMMITMENT to achieving it. This got me thinking — what is this power that empowers people to try countless times before succeeding? My personal theory finds an unexpected answer in the power of delusion 😄Seriously, imagine a person believing in their idea so unconditionally, that they are ready to jump in with both feet to finally make something 💫 cool 💫 happen? The secret I found in the phrase Leigh Ewin told me yesterday: "You have to be hungry for this" (Stay hungry, stay foolish right?) 🍏👓 Of course, being hungry for your dream is not enough. The mark of a truly great entrepreneur is also in their relentless thrust to improve, adapt, and master any skill necessary. Let's take a real-life example - me 🙌🏼 Recently I have earned a BA in International Relations, Public Communications, and Translation. Alongside, I had some experience in hospitality, kitchen work, administrative assistance, tourism consulting, analytical writing, HR management, and even web-design for a local law firm and a fashion studio! Now I landed a job in Software QA, which is…🥁… a whole new thing to me again. And you know what? I could not be more grateful for the HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE they've provided. As Steve Jobs once said, "The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle." And as I always say: keep your energy on what you aspire to become!

Today, at EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht, me and my fellow students visited an exciting corporate career fair, bringing together some fantastic mid-sized companies. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the German job market in 2024, and we walked away with some valuable insights: Three Key Learnings about the German Job Market 2024: 🚀Companies are more open than ever to diverse skill sets, valuing unique career backgrounds over traditional paths. 🚀There's a strong push for younger, dynamic teams—companies are actively seeking fresh perspectives. 🚀Mid-sized companies are emerging as key players, offering competitive opportunities that often rival the big names. 👩🏫What surprised us most👩🏫: The enthusiasm of these companies to engage directly with students and their genuine interest in our career paths. 🥇We ended the evening with great food and wine on the university rooftop, connecting with companies that truly value fresh talent. It was more than just networking; it was about building connections that could shape our futures. A big thanks to all the corporate partners for making this such a memorable event! 🪄 Alexander Manus I Phillip Nürnberger | Imke Corts | Laura Straßheim | Gunnar Kühne I Christopher Steines I Aki Arráez Ramón | Falko Braun I Tim Risse I Matthias Waldkirch | Cecile Fenkl | Om Bhavnani | Dhairya Goyal | Vivien Kolle

What defines the success of a strategy? Earlier this year, before going on maternity leave, I worked with several departments to set medium and long-term objectives across the business. Now, six months later, I’m taking a moment to reflect on how things are progressing. From the time he started, it was clear that James Cannon could see the bigger picture. He quickly integrated with our technical teams, deeply understanding some of our most complex roles. His accuracy in identifying and putting forward the right candidates has been nothing short of exceptional, especially in his first year. But James didn’t stop there. I asked him to focus on the long-term, specifically by establishing graduate training programmes and apprentice schemes. Over the past couple of weeks, he’s independently attended two university job fairs (a feat in itself!), and what I truly love is his feedback: 💬 "Students came up to say they specifically came to see us." This speaks volumes about our impact and our business’s growing reputation. It’s a true indication that our strategy is working. Success is when people seek out your company because of the culture, opportunities, and vision you’ve built. Well done, James—you’ve done a fantastic job executing the strategy, and we can’t wait to see how you’ll continue to help Enspec grow and what else you’ll accomplish! #BusinessGrowth

Are you signing up for your next Job fair? Are you following every person who shares with you about upcoming job opportunities?? Are you immediately commenting on a post when someone says they will share resources with you? And when you do so, I want you to honestly ask yourself, how many of these resources do you actually end up using or leveraging or do they just in your inbox for the longest time untouched I am saying this because I have done this in the past and that is why I am saying this is because the solution to accessing opportunities is not just showing up where they are but a big part of it is preparing for those opportunities in ways that are needed and may not be the most fun Most accessing of opportunities is not about reaching out or showing up, it is a part but everyone is doing it, and so a bigger part of it is actually following through and following up and knowing WHY that opportunity If your answer to that question is “Ritika, it’s because it’s the only job on the market or it’s something my agent told me to go into because that industry is booming today and has more opportunities “ Bhai, that is not how it is done and that should not be the reason This is one of the reasons why a lot of newcomers loose their jobs in the first 90 days, why???? Because we are entering not knowing a lot about it, applying for need sake and that too for the short term need of wanting to be stable in a job because that is what society asks of us and what we are required to do to not be seen as not smart or not capable Walking a path that is less travelled I know is scary but changemakers and game changers are born from those unknown paths So figure out what your path is….. and what you have to realize is to know your path you need to know the destination, if that’s now something you know, figure that out first You can do a lot, you can be a lot and you are good at a lot of things and trust me a job is something if not today you will get tomorrow But why settle for less, I want you to run after the job and the career and the life YOU ASPIRE TO have Not just something that comes by We don’t settle especially not for LESS Respect your WORTH I know you may not always have the opportunity to do so but when you do leverage that privilege So, when are you starting ??? #mindset #motivation #advice

Last week, I attended the London Job Show Westfield, and what an eye-opening experience it was! 🎉 From spinning wheels to scan games, the event was not only informative but also incredibly engaging. I had the chance to network with representatives from various companies, collect some great swag, and gain valuable insights into the job market. Here are some highlights I wanted to share: 1. I was blown away by the variety of industries and positions available about diverse opportunities. Everything from entry-level jobs to specialized roles. It really opened my eyes to what’s out there. 2. Meeting recruiters in person made all the difference. I had some great conversations about company culture and what they’re really looking for in candidates. 3. Interacting with so many employers in one day gave me a huge boost in confidence when it comes to networking and presenting myself. 4. I even picked up some new terminology, like “zero-hour contracts,” which expanded my understanding of the job market. If you’re thinking about attending a job fair, I highly recommend it! It’s a fantastic way to explore career options and make valuable connections. Have you been to a job fair recently? I’d love to hear about your experiences! 💼✨ #JobFair #CareerDevelopment #Networking #JobSearch

Senior Level Marketing Professional • Brand Builder • Community-Driven • Working Mother • Content Creator • Entrepreneur
To anyone who has branding fall under their job umbrella, never sleep on the opportunity to get out and talk to your target audiences. Trade shows, community fairs, job fairs, these are prime opportunities to tell your brand’s story in real life. To have your target hear from you in person - to hear the excitement and stories about your brand from a human in front of them - is value that can be tough to replicate across other media forms. I always think of it like this: People take in information differently. Some are visual, some hear a message once and that’s all they need. But when you layer your messaging and diversify your tactics - just like all solid strategic marketing and media plans should - it gives you a real chance to strengthen your voice and have your target experience your brand. So the next time you get that email inviting you to a trade show or a local community gathering, take a beat and see if you can make it work strategically and logistically. {Photo of Maury Mattison and I at the Northern Illinois University Campus Meets Community event, sharing our brand story for The Suter Company Inc.}
