During Patient Experience Week and beyond, we're reminded of the profound impact empathy has in healthcare. It's more than just understanding; it's about truly connecting with patients on an emotional level. We believe in the power of compassion, listening to patient concerns, and creating a supportive environment for open dialogue. By putting ourselves in their shoes, we can better understand their experiences and fears, ultimately leading to better care and improved well-being. Let's continue to prioritize empathy in healthcare, creating positive experiences for all! #PatientExperience #EmpathyInHealthcare #SanitasMedicalCenters

A doctor must be, above all, a good human being: warm, ethical and trustworthy for the patient and the family group. In addition, he/she must exhaustively investigate the causes of the patient's suffering, beyond an illness or a diagnosis and taking into account the integrity and peculiarity of each person (and their environment). This requires the ability to interview with great skill: guiding the dialogue and at the same time knowing how to listen carefully (despite the pressure of the short time available). The disease is suffered in a very personal and subjective way by each person, so knowing the psychosocial variables of each patient determines a special and unique approach that enhances the therapeutic act. And it produces high satisfaction for patients, their families and for the doctor himself. But the doctor must also have patience, good humor, serenity and wisdom to guide and support his/her patients, managing to educate them with simple language about the individual and family implications of disease. We doctors must be much more than scientists... we must become healers, counselors and motivators. Physically, psychologically and spiritually.
