Sensory processing difficulties can significantly impact the mental health of autistic people. Supporting autistic children and teenagers with sensory processing difficulties and communication challenges requires a multi-faceted approach. Here are several strategies that can be helpful, but the most important thing is to ask the person for their input, what helps them, they are the experts on themselves! My biggest plea is to empower the people you are working with, with their voice! That may not be in spoken language and they may need support to work through things, to work out what they want and need, but by showing care and interest you can work it out together. #sensoryprocessing #mentalhealth
