As we conclude the AACSB MENA Conference 2024, hosted by AUC School of Business, we reflect on two incredible days full of knowledge sharing, networking and inspiration. This year’s high-profile conference included 9 sessions that gathered academics, thought leaders and industry professionals from AACSB International and the MENA region, who engaged in discussions and explored strategies about timely and crucial issues in the realm of business education in our region. Discussions on the first day surrounded sustainable initiatives that highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaborations, partnerships, applied research, effectively addressing economic and societal needs plus how to navigate the accreditation journey successfully. The second day focused on AI-powered resources that can offer personalized learning experiences and transformative opportunities for innovation within the education sector, the need for robust quality metrics and building university-based entrepreneurial ecosystems. The AACSB Conference has undoubtedly provided an enabling productive platform for business education institutions to collectively play a huge role in providing a sustainable positive impact across the MENA region as hailed in the closing remarks by Sherif Kamel, Dean, AUC School of Business and Vice Chair-Chair Elect of the AACSB Board of Directors. #AACSBMENAConference #BusinessCommunity #AUC #Impact #businesseducation #collaboration #accreditation

Associate Professor of Marketing | Member of The Small Business Charter Management Board | Stakeholder Director at PraxisAuril | Director at the Open North Foundation | Host of the "Why Small Business Matters" Podcast
Three things we learned from hosting our first dedicated Knowledge Exchange Round Table Event – Feb 2024 at Northumbria University (Dr. Padmali Rodrigo) in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University Business School (Jennie Shorley) 👇 🎯 Regardless of geographical location, people want to talk about Knowledge Exchange! Any academic will tell you about the difficulty in securing research participants. Here, it’s different. Our community are curious and understand the importance and value of delivering successful Knowledge Exchange work. People have been so generous with their time and keen to participate. Everyone is talking about it and their feedback is so valuable. 🎯 The term “Knowledge Exchange” is of secondary importance. Core Knowledge Exchange activity is given lots of terms, often used interchangeably by different teams inside and outside of a university. Yet there remains little doubt that university and business collaboration activity is special, and it receives unwavering support. 🎯 Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) offers social capital. This event is part of a formal piece of contract research, funded by CABS. It’s acted as a catalyst to spark important conversations across the sector. Moving forward, many members will look across the CABS and Small Business Charter network for guidance and support to trigger and assemble their Knowledge Exchange Activity. #university #knowledgeexchange #knowledgetransfer PraxisAuril

Sergei Guriev has been appointed as the new Dean of London Business School. Some people say "it's an interesting choice" given "the context". For the segment of the business community of Russian origin currently working abroad, this news is incredibly important. Many of my friends (including myself) 'relocated' (I would call it something else, but whatever) almost two years ago. Many others are still relocating or planning to do so. In private conversations with my Russian friends, I have often heard the following concerns: > 'Don't you find that your colleagues in Western Europe have more cutting-edge experience? It's very unlikely you can compete with them.' > 'Don't they work faster and smarter?' > 'Are you sure your experience, mainly accumulated working in Russia and the CIS region, can bring value?' > 'How are you perceived in Western Europe being Russian?' All of these concerns prevent people from even attempting to compete in a new geographical market. The context of the last two years doesn't make it any easier to succeed in this 'job market entry' exercise. I still remember my first job interview in the initial months of my MBA journey. It was with Amazon, and the hiring manager was of Polish origin (well, historically, we are not the best neighbors). Six months since the war started. My personal decisions directly affected my professional career. Should I mention it in the interview? Would it be appropriate? What if the hiring manager also wants to ask about it but doesn't know how? Professionalism unites. This is what I appreciate about the business world. If your personal values align, and you can bring value to each other professionally, all other aspects are not a problem. And Guriev's appointment is a case in point.
London Business School is delighted to announce the forthcoming appointment of our new Dean, Sergei Guriev, currently Provost and Professor of Economics at Sciences Po. Professor Guriev, who will take up his Deanship at the start of the new School year, said: "I am excited, honoured and humbled to have been chosen as the new Dean of London Business School. I admire the institution for its academic excellence, its truly global DNA, and its commitment to diversity and inclusion. I strongly support the School’s mission and values and am looking forward to working together with LBS’s outstanding team and alumni to make an impact on the way the world does business and the way business impacts the world in the rapidly evolving global environment.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eCZKdZik Photo credit - Alexis Lecomte
