CEO and co-founder at CiRCLR. Loves to talk trash. Circular economy entrepreneur.

As a former design student at Wellington Massey University the opportunity to attend the Semi Permanent showcase felt like unlocking a door to a world of endless possibilities. It was a chance to rub shoulders with the industry's heavyweights—the true innovators and thought leaders of design. Back then, as a fashion and textile design student, the conversations were rich with concepts, theories, and the psychology of art and design. It was a time when we dared to believe that our ideas could indeed change the world and when VC simply meant visual communications. Yet, amidst our lofty aspirations, we were often brought back down to earth when confronted with the realities of pricing our designs for target markets. In a single semester, I juggled Fine arts, Marketing, PR, and designing two collections—one called “ onions don’t make me cry” inspired by Hundertwasser's 5 skins- sustainability concept. It was an environment that seamlessly merged theory, commercialisation, manufacturing, art, and communications—an absolute dream for the myriad of neurospicy thinkers among us. So, to now be invited to speak at Spark for Business Future state as part of Semi Permanent it feels a bit surreal. I veered away from what I once thought would be my path, only to circle back in a different guise. It's incredibly special to have this opportunity to be a part of a panel with experts in the field of #circularity Rachel Brown ONZM (She/Her) from Sustainable Business Network and Jayden Klinac from Anew — For my own personal endeavours I see this as my chance to bridge the past with the present, and embrace my own unconventional path in design and beyond. After years of fashion never in a thousand years would I have seen myself at a semipermanent event talking about rubbish… the world works in mysterious ways.

Wow that’s some incredible line up! of course I’m not surprised to see your face on a flyer with these heavyweights 😎 way back at Massey you’re exceptional aesthetic and creative thinking was already on another plane!
