Having posted my 10 tips. Here is New Year Improvement Resolution (Tip) - 7 7. Systems thinking is key to complex transformation. Lesson – What did Einstein say “no problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it”. So, to unravel the complex processes we develop, you need a method to give your team a new level of consciousness. Listen to Dr Ackoff, then reflect on your change programme/improvement work. Is it founded on improving parts separately or the system as a whole? https://lnkd.in/ejVQUSti

In turbulent times, we often need to change strategy. But, all too often people persist with what worked in the past. Our new article in Strategic Management Journal, co-authored by Gerard P Hodgkinson and myself, shows how multiple scenario analysis can help people adapt by switching from a failing strategy to a new one. https://lnkd.in/eiFiT366

🌐 Embracing Systems Thinking in Organizations - Lessons from Dr. Russell Ackoff 🔍 See the Whole, Not Just the Parts: Systems thinking encourages us to look beyond individual components. For instance, a company isn't just a collection of departments; it's an integrated entity where each part affects and is affected by others. 🔄 Interconnectivity is Key: Like in a well-oiled machine, every function in an organization is interconnected. Ackoff exemplified this with his "Circular Organization" concept, where information and decision-making flow in a loop rather than a top-down hierarchy. 🚀 Innovation Through Synthesis: Innovation isn't just about improving parts but synthesizing them into something greater. Think of how Apple succeeded not just by making better computers, but by integrating technology, design, and user experience. 🌟 The Whole is Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts: In systems thinking, the focus is on how well the parts work together, not just how well each part works. A basketball team with great synergy often outperforms a team of individual stars. 🎯 Target Problems and Re-Design, Not Symptoms: Systems thinking pushes us to look deeper than the symptoms. 🤝 Collaboration Over Silos: Breaking down silos and fostering cross-department collaboration can lead to holistic solutions and innovative ideas, much like how diverse ecosystems thrive through various species working together. 📈 Continual Learning and Adaptation: Embrace continuous learning and adaptability in your organization's culture to stay ahead. #SystemsThinking #OrganizationalGrowth #Innovation #RussellAckoff #Leadership https://lnkd.in/ee5R3UAk

I keep hearing importance of critical thinking. The problem is that critical thinking without actual knowledge is not useful and can be even used for manipulation. If you want to radicalize people, just keep telling them to use critical thinking to distrust institutions and government and feed them misinformation. They will accept misinformation because they “think critically” of mainstream media etc.
