When I look at the terminals of a 1 MW hydrogen electrolyser, I have two feelings. The first is admiration for the enormous power concentrated in the volume of the home refrigerator. The second is the question, how do you switch on 500,000 amps? Yes, even if it is only a few volts, but even with a contact resistance of 1 microohm, 250 kilowatts are lose at the switch!!! According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration's International Energy Outlook 2023 (IEO2023), the trajectory of natural gas consumption in India is nothing short of remarkable. Projected to more than triple by 2050, with an annual growth rate of 4.4%, India's embrace of this cleaner fuel surpasses even the rapid expansion seen in China, the next-fastest-growing country. 📈 What's even more compelling is the anticipated surge in India's net natural gas imports. From 3.6 Bcf/d in 2022, these imports are forecasted to soar to a staggering 13.7 Bcf/d by 2050, reflecting a 4.9% average annual increase. Sursum-Mi is happy to share the virtualization of a hydrogen fueled, high-performance engine based on the 1D #Gasdyn code. Starting from a single-cylinder, gasoline engine layout, Sursum-Mi shaped a V8 H2, lean burn, spark ignition engine, equipped with an SCR after-treatment system, which achieves the goal of preserving the fun to drive lowering the tailpipe emissions below the limits of the EURO7 regulation.  This goal has been achieved with the adoption of a cutting-edge predictive combustion model, based on the integration of tabulated kinetics, along with state of the art SCR kinetic models embedded in the code.

What I like most of 1D tools is the possibility they offer to quickly investigate the feasibility of new technologies. This is a good example of virtualization of an H2 V8 SI engine, created from a blank canvas, which combines the fun-to-drive with low NOx and carbon free emissions.
