Last July, Saunders Norwood Construction finished up the UCHealth Memorial North Hospital Birth Center, a buildout of 12,000 square feet of existing space on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The buildout includes new post-partum patient rooms and support services as well as additional Labor, Delivery and Recovery (LDR) patient rooms, and renovations to the nurse station and equipment rooms to support the additional patient rooms. This project represents our commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and serving our community with excellence. A big thank you to all who contributed to this project. Your efforts are helping us pave the way for a healthier future in our community. #BuildingWhatMattersinColoradoSprings

The right combination to fast track a project, off site building modular construction concurrent with site infrastructure development and foundations.
“Total cost was very similar, but time to market was wildly different,” Scott Cantley, CEO of Memorial Health System says. For a revenue-producing component like an emergency room, the 15-month faster delivery promised by a modular approach was a powerful advantage. “The key to these savings is performing site work in parallel sequence with off-site construction,” Cantley says. “We had extensive site work, but it was all happening while the building was being built.” In fact, he notes, on-site module assembly wound up waiting for site work to be completed. https://lnkd.in/evFj3XDb

It’s imperative that the new and renewed buildings that MUSC builds on Roper’s former campus need to be in consideration of mixed use and promoting student and professional housing and other uses that will increase district wide walking and Shuttle usage and reduce traffic moving into the district. What an opportunity to create an 18-hr live work innovation district

You’ve likely heard this month the Medical University of South Carolina’s Board of Trustees unanimously voted in support of a Purchase and Sale Agreement for the Roper St. Francis Healthcare building and property in downtown Charleston. As MUSC evaluates what will be the best and highest purpose for the hospital space and office building, I can’t help but be excited about the future. MUSC values Roper St. Francis Healthcare for their partnership and essential contribution to the health and wellness of our greater community. We also thank Roper St. Francis Healthcare for supporting MUSC’s strong academic mission and being a part of our common purpose of positively changing the future of health care for those we serve. While it will take time, this acquisition will take us one step closer to achieving this aim. I look forward to sharing updates as milestones occur. #ChangeTheFuture

DID YOU HEAR? Austin is building a New $305 million State Hospital due to Texas revamping it's psychiatric system By Stephen Simpson, The Texas Tribune "New $305 million Austin State Hospital unveiled as Texas revamps psychiatric system" was first published by The Texas Tribune, a nonprofit, nonpartisan media organization that informs Texans — and engages with them — about public policy, politics, government and statewide issues. The Austin State Hospital, a new 240-bed facility, has been constructed on the existing 80-acre campus approximately three miles north of downtown Austin. The historic Old Main Building, which opened in 1861 and is now designated a historic landmark, will continue to serve as office space when the hospital begins operations later this summer. The modern new building resembles a luxurious apartment complex, featuring 11 secure courtyards and screened porches. It offers single-person patient rooms, each with its own bathroom, and numerous recreational amenities, including a gym, salon, barber shop, chapel, general store, and more. "This facility is designed to simulate real-life situations, allowing individuals to progress through their recovery journey in an environment dedicated to their healing," said Austin State Hospital Superintendent Stacey Thompson. Parliamentary Assistant at Oireachtas, Member Independent Sligo Leader Evaluation Committee RDP 2016-2017
Here is a reply to me from the Minister for Health’s Office advising that the long awaited procurement of the 42 bed medical project should be completed in Q1 2024 with a view of going to construction towards the end of 2024. HEA-MO-00671-2024 12th February 2024 Dear Cllr. Walsh, Thank you for your recent correspondence concerning the provision of a new 42-bed medical block and theatre suite at SUH. The delivery of health capital projects is a dynamic process, subject to the successful completion of the various project approval stages in line with the newly published Infrastructure Guidelines and also taking into account market response noting recent and current labour market and wider macroeconomic dynamics. The proposals for additional beds for Sligo University Hospital are noted against recent progress where 1,126 acute beds have been opened across the country since 2020. This represents more acute hospital beds delivered than in any comparable period since the HSE was established. A service need for additional bed capacity was identified in Sligo University Hospital and an additional 42-bed project is underway. The project will deliver 2 x 21 bed wards, single en-suite rooms with ancillary accommodation. Planning permission and fire certifications have been received for the project. Essential enabling works to facilitate the provision of a new Ward Block including a car park are under construction and nearing completion. The 42 bed project is out for tender. Tenders for the project are expected back by end Q1 2024. A review of the tender options will take place following their submission, and the preferred tender offered the contract in line with established procedures. Following awarding of the contract, it is anticipated construction will commence in Q3 2024 with an estimated construction timeline of 30 months. https://lnkd.in/e-VZxn9H

I fear this is a classic case of confirmation bias, defending a decision made without proper consideration of the options. It is noteworthy from CEO Alice Webster’s defence of the decision (https://lnkd.in/ej9yQRb2) that consideration of alternative sites only took place after significant investment had been made in the Endoscopy unit a year before. Is this a question of the tail wagging the dog? Why is it so impossible to build a new hospital on a greenfield site in six years? Can planning not be expedited if the alternative site is the best site? Don’t let the bureaucrats get in the way of the right solution! https://lnkd.in/ec6ryTsF

I thought this was an interesting article and wanted to share:
“In this day and age when people are shopping for healthcare, if I can go someplace that’s a little more hotel-like versus an older facility where I might have to share a room, where would I go?” Susan McDevitt, senior clinical planning principal at HDR (Seattle), says. #Architects, #designers, principals and directors from ESa, HDR, UW Health, ZGF Architects, AdventHealth discuss trends in #healthcaredesign and construction for #AcuteCare -- from space and capacity needs to tech and modernization -- in this article for Healthcare Design. https://lnkd.in/g9RaSsyX

We’ve now completed four pilots with six more to come. We will be sharing our results along with the feedback and knowledge we’re getting as we go. Business leaders everywhere, it’s an exciting time for us as we are perfecting our OP System in pilots, with wonderful people from diverse backgrounds and industries in the work they do. They are building OP platforms from scratch! Replacing static with dynamic best practices!!! New IP from within. We have our heads down with selling and scaling comprehensively that is all part of the plan. What matters most to me at this moment, is that we put our product in the hands of those who will be using our technologies now and into the future. Peak value in our products and services is what we’re striving for. Learning, executing, and perfecting as we go is our culture. The rewards of doing these things will follow accordingly. Especially as we head into our new #Ai world. Come to www.opsystem.io to book a demo. #humansintheloop #Ai #authenticintelligence OP Media, Inc.
OP Media recently piloted our system with several rural hospitals in Utah. The benefits were immediately recognized by all of the incredible frontline employees - many of whom created their own OPs! "I think the potential benefit for rural facilities is indisputable, especially as it relates to process improvement and increased efficiency."
