In times of natural disaster, our dedicated public safety heroes tirelessly work to assist communities and ensure everyone's safety- THANK YOU for all you do!! Here's an interesting look at how the hurricane affected 911 calls in the path of the storm. The first significant increase in call volume was recorded at 4:00 CT on July 8, with an impressive 1,740 calls made within that hour. Twenty-five years ago, Hurricane Mitch struck Central America, devastating communities across Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. As the deadliest Atlantic hurricane in 200 years, Mitch’s damage was immense. Intense rain and heavy flooding damaged homes and crops and lead to thousands of lives lost and millions forever changed. #Mitch continued its path of destruction into the #FloridaKeys and Naples, making landfall as a storm on November 5, 1998.
