Their ambitious plan, outlined in the “Miami 2035” report, aims to leverage Miami’s growth as a global hub for business, sports, and the arts. While specific solutions are yet to be proposed, the Partnership promises a long-term strategy to collaborate with various stakeholders, including elected officials and nonprofit organizations. Unlike previous secretive groups, the Partnership emphasizes transparency and public engagement, marking a new era of collective action among Miami’s influential business community.

Legacy can be the fuel of legends. But no company makes it to 100 years without hard work, trauma, guts, risk but also a workforce that stands steadily behind them. As Peckham Industries celebrates that centennial including one of their many regional events at their Shaftsbury operation on June 15, the essential words are connection and mastery. 🎉🎂 Oakleaf turns 19 🎈🥳 Written in the wonderful words of our founder @Richard Colgan ... Monday 4th July 2005 was a momentous day for me - it was the day I got the train into London for the very first day of Oakleaf Partnership: my own personal Independence Day. I remember it vividly - it was both super exciting and absolutely terrifying in the same breath! 19 years have passed since that day and when I reflect on what we have collectively achieved I'm both humbled and proud. I took a huge leap of faith (in my own ability!) to invent and launch Oakleaf, but the Oakleaf is a symbol of courage after all! With a big mortgage and school fees to pay, it simply had to work. Thankfully, despite the challenges we have faced over the years, from the GFC to Covid and beyond, we enter our 20th year as committed to our customers as ever. Our corporate values and purpose (created and owned by Team OP) totally underpin our culture which, in turn, helps drive the way we treat our colleagues and our customers. At Oakleaf, we don't differentiate between clients and candidates - we only have customers - and I believe this is a unique differentiator in an increasingly crowded market. Over the last couple of years, we have expanded into both the Middle East and Europe, as well as broadening the product offering with our Technology, Change & Transformation (TCT) business. Today also marks the second anniversary of Oakleaf Partnership US - with 10 colleagues already on the ground in the US and with 250 cities bigger than Manchester, the growth opportunity in the USA is enormous. The last 15 months, however, have been particularly challenging for us all, but change is most certainly on the horizon and market sentiment seems to be improving. Every journey has a starting point, and for Locus' Place-Based Investment Strategy, that starting point was Virginia. It made sense to begin where our networks and relationships ran deepest. Our first step was to identify a region of the commonwealth where our partners had experience with Locus that extended beyond financial services: we selected Southside Virginia. We gathered intel by looking at secondary data, reviewing regional and community plans, and assessing our past lending in the region. We built on our prior work supporting the Harvest Foundation to become a local impact investor, our long-standing partnership supporting the Danville Regional Foundation’s entrepreneurship small business development, and our lending activity with public and private sector actors across the region. ICYMI — Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative quoted here alongside Small Business Anti-Displacement Network and The Guild in response to the passage of Atlanta’s new legacy business program. Does it go far enough to protect Black-owned small businesses? Not quite. A 30-year threshold and only a $900,000 set aside misses the mark compared to some other major city programs. For example, we need rent stabilization for commercial tenants, not just facade improvement grants. The Milwaukee County Treasurer's Office needs to get back to work restoring abandoned industrial and commercial properties from tax delinquency to the tax base. Eighteen of Milwaukee County's nineteen municipalities rely on the Treasurer's Office to take foreclosure action in these scenarios, lest these properties continue to sit vacant, unused, and in poor repair. Yet we see properties languish in delinquency and decay, a clear sign that change is needed in the Treasurer's Office. Our communities deserve a more engaged and administratively savvy Treasurer with who will work with municipal planners, state funders, private-sector investment partners, and the county's economic development division to identify properties in need; work creatively to secure funding for cleanup, mitigation, or demolition as appropriate; and develop plans for sale and reuse. Then, once these critical pieces are in place, our Treasurer must be willing to initiate foreclosure proceedings and secure the property's transfer to county ownership, so that partner agencies can take the next steps in the process and make the property ready for sale. The opportunities available through this approach are significant - many of these sites possess real potential for sustainable re-use that will support thriving and inclusive communities. And the partnerships are waiting to be formed - just look at the example highlighted in this video, where a private investor is already working to pull together state, county, and external support for a viable reuse plan. But these opportunities will remain locked behind a wall of inaction unless we change the leadership in our Treasurer's Office and restore an active, hands-on, community-minded approach.

Touted as an evening of "honoring and celebrating the accomplishments of commercial real estate women in all stages of their careers," the evening truly delivered as a special night honoring some incredible Boston women in commercial real estate, including: Anna B. of Arup, recipient of the Esprit de Coeur Award Veronica Columb Bulman, CPA of RSM US LLP, recipient of the Professional Service Award Shelley Balanda of FOOTPRYNT, recipient of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award Jill Sharif of Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company ®, recipient of the Leadership Award Kimberly Martin-Epstein of Hackett Feinberg P.C., recipient of the Suzanne King Public Service Award, and Leslie Doyle, Jocelyn Goglia, Amy Prange, Ali Ribeiro, Karen O'Malley, Yareni (Yari) Sanchez, Marya Gorczyca, and McKenna Teague, the incredible women of 400 Summer, the recipients of the Networking Award. I was moved and inspired by each woman's acceptance speech, but a major key theme emerged from all of them; most notably, that we as women are filled with doubt about our capabilities to the point where we'll accept nothing less than perfection. Through the power of mentorship, these women learned to silence that inner critic and paved extraordinary paths.
