The alcohol-free market is no longer a fad but a legitimate movement as people cut back on their alcohol consumption. According to Statista, the non-alcoholic spirits/beer market will exceed $561M this year. Brands like Athletic Brewing Co., Aplós and Ghia are capitalizing on this market and now LVMH is getting into the game by buying into FRENCH BLOOM. Most alternatives are priced close to their alcoholic peer. But none have tested the how much people are willing to spend for a non-alcoholic alternative. Names–I–Wish–I'd–Thought-Of: FRENCH BLOOM, is a non-alcoholic brand of 'champagne' which launched three years ago and is on track to sell 500,000 bottles this year. Now, luxury giant LVMH  is buying a stake in French Bloom betting that it can convince more consumers to pay upward of $100 a bottle minus the booze. The deal for roughly 30% of non-alcoholic 'champagne' maker comes amid a surge in popularity for low- and no-alcohol drinks, and as LVMH’s Moët Hennessy division contends with sluggish demand for Champagne and spirits. French Bloom, which sells a wide variety of sparkling wines, includes sparkling white and sparkling rose. Its latest addition, La Cuvée Vintage, which launched in 2022, is a nonalcoholic fizz, that’s sold at $109 a bottle. #branding #naming

Brands Report 2024: Champagne by the Drinks International "Champagne is the wine of the world’s best bars. It’s the serve of luxury and celebration, and critically for the Brands Report, the wine category’s branding and ownership most closely resembles the spirits world. And if brand recognition counts in bars, Moët & Chandon has more than most. The LVMH brand is the region’s bestseller and since we began polling that’s also true in our bars. It’s topped the bestselling list eight times since 2013 and this year marks three in a row at the top of the tree. Fifteen per cent of our polled bars said it was their bestselling champagne and it was a top-three fizz in 30%. Veuve Clicquot in second place means that LVMH takes the two top spots for the second year running. ­The brand appears to be one that is a common listing even if it’s not a house pour. It was the bestseller in 7% of bars and a top-three in 21%.
